Reviews on European food in Veendam, Groningen Province, The Netherlands. Veendam (Dutch pronunciation: [veːnˈdɑm] ( listen)) is a town and municipality with a population of 27,752 in the province of Groningen in the northeast of the Netherlands.
It is a very pleasant place to eat and relax with your friends, family or even if you are alone. The food was tasty and delicious. Good value of money

Tucked away in the North of the Netherlands we found this hidden gem. Straight forward cooking with seasonal products. You can choose from 5 starters, 5 main courses and 5 deserts. Still something for everyone, pork, beef, fish, game and vegetarian. All very delicious.
An entrance ticket for the neighbouring "Veenkoloniaal Museum" entitles to a small discount on coffee or tea, so after our museum visit we drifted into Grand Café Van Berensteyn. We ordered the discounted coffee and a plate of French fries. Coffee was mediocre, but the fries were fresh and tasty. What shall I say about Grand Café Van Berensteyn. The Grand Café is light, spacious with contemporary appointment, but the impression of the Grand Café and the service of the staff is rather colourless, without warmth. Not an establishment to select spontaneously for a visit.

I enjoyed the cake and koffie very much ! they have very good sandwitches too ! the price is allright !
Vanavond hier een feestje mogen bijwonen. Was een besloten feestavond waarbij het restaurant de catering verzorgde. Erg smakelijke voorgerechten, tapas schotels en lekkere toetje. Prima in orde. Gastvrije ontvangst door de gastheer en gastvrouw. De reguliere kaart geeft voldoende om een stop te maken in Veendam voor een lekkere lunch of kop koffie. Aanrader.

this family run hotel restaurant is tastefully decorated with plenty of space between tables and you are not crammed in. The menu choice is expansive Two of the meat dishes ordered were rather on the tough side, portions are large. The fish dish (cod= Kabeljouw) was delicious and succulent and fresh. Fish potions however are quite small, so if you have an appetite maybe a starter is recommended. Dessert menu was sampled and all 4 dishes were very good, the cappuccino option was rather quirky and a nice touch..

We had dinner here recently and it was gorgeous from start to finish! The only pity was we had to dine early and were the only ones in the restaurant until we nearly had to leave. They had just introduced the new spring menu which was lovely and it was difficult to make a choice. We were met by a lovely young lady and a man who looked after us very well and advised us on all the items on the menu. The amosphere in the place is cosy with lots of dark wood and some old, authentic elements. We were told it is the oldest building in town.Would go here again if ever in the neighbourhood again.

Parkeerplaatsen in overvloed. Ik kan Kielman van harte aanbevelen.

Mamma Mia knows how to make their pizza's over delicious. It's nice that you can look into the kitchen where they perform live cooking while making the pizza's. I always choose the Mac - sea fruits with a nice twist. A bottle of Chianti wine with it and you'll be in for a perfect night.
