A hotel & location with tradition | The history of Gries im Sellrain Although there has been a number of farms in the region since 1313, the town name of Gries im Sellrain first occurred in a document in the 17th Century. Gries im Sellrain only became an official municipality under Bavarian occupation in 1811. Church History of Gries im Sellraintal Ahornhof was used as the sovereign's hunting property for centuries . In 1760, it was rebuilt as a parsonage for two priests from the Wilten monastery, who worked in the community. Gries then received its own parish in 1891. From 1733 the Wilten monastery financed the construction of a church in Gries. This was built in the rococo style and finished within two years.
