Vermonts Green Mountains are the peaks that gave the 14th state its name. Still largely covered by the verdant forest, the area is a year-round destination, popular with both skiers and hikers. The Long Trail, a wilderness hiking trail, traverses the state, while drivers set a slower pace on Vermonts scenic roads. Quaint towns, such as Stowe and Montgomery, acres of farmed valleys, apple orchards, covered bridges and specialty stores take visitors back in time, and charming inns await.

My wife and I enjoyed three days at the Inn. It was a very comfortable and relaxing place to come back to between exploring hiking trails and history in the area. Great hospitality, great breakfast and a beautiful place. We would definitely recommend.

If our lavish rooms and full, energizing breakfasts aren't enough to take your breath away, our spectacular mountains views will. Recipients of the AAA Four Diamond Award for the past fourteen years and a Select Registry property - a Manchester inn exclusive. One enchanting evening with us and you'll understand why.
Our recent stay at Ormsby Hill was our 12th visit in the past 3 years. It is truly our home away from home in Manchester! Jack & MaryAnn are warm and caring innkeepers who always make their guests feel welcomed and cared for. The inn is filled with historic charm and character and all the rooms are comfortable and furnished tastefully with a cozy elegance. Over the years, we've stayed in many of the rooms that are there, each with it's own personality. Whenever we need a calm, relaxing and restful weekend, the Ormsby Inn is our go to place. Looking forward to going back in the fall to check out the refurbished rooms! Gene & Joanne Buccini

Full breakfast served in beautiful dining room with original ornate plaster work. Afternoon tea provided in the mahogany paneled library. Close local attractions including the Bennington Museum, Bennington Monument, Clark Art Institute (Williamstown, MA), Oldcastle Theatre, Mount Anthony golf course and weekly Farmer's Market.
We stayed at South Shire for 3 nights as a get away. The room was very relaxing with a fireplace (Duralogs were provided each night). The room was clean and comfortable. The breakfasts were delicious. Conversations were interesting, informative, and enjoyable. We would recommend South Shire. It was a great location also. We easily toured the Shires over the 4 days we were there.

Manchester was our favorite area we visited in Vermont, and staying at the Ira Allen House made it more memorable. The house is very old, but Kevin has maintained the decor and details while keeping up with renovations and never-ending repairs of a house that is 250 years old. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was spacious. Breakfast was delicious, full of local food. Kevin was very accommodating with food alergies, and was able to provide recommendations for places to visit and to eat. We were there on a Sunday, and Kevin had a detailed list of instructions to take a "Sunday loop" to visit multiple places, including a forest and a farmer's market, that we would have never known if it wasn't for him. The house is on a busy road, you may want to book a room in the back of the house. It is about 10 minutes away from Manchester, right next to the entrance to Mt. Equinox.

The Aerie Inn of Vermont is East Dorset's only dog-friendly motel. We are minutes away from Emerald Lake State Park, and all that Manchester has to offer. The Appalachian Trail is nearby, as well as summer activities at Bromley and Stratton Mountains. Nestled on a hillside off of the highway, we have great mountains views in a quiet setting. We look forward to welcoming you to our motel.
Stopped on a whim on the way home from a backpacking trip and couldn't have been more pleased with this spur of the moment decision. The location is straight out of a dream, surrounded by the most beautiful green mountain. The staff was incredibly welcoming, the rooms quaint with handmade touches like natural soap and chocolates. We will come back anytime we're in the area!

I can’t say enough about this place. The new owners are thoughtful, kind, and really listen to their customer’s comments. The grounds are well-manicured, the pool and hot tub are clean, and the rooms are clean and offer a beautiful view of the acreage. They fixed the shower head so the water flow is better and immediately exchanged out a non-functioning hair dryer. I suspect they run on well water, hence the water pressure and not so hot water (not like your home or a “typical” hotel but it is hot). I was there for a race and they worked around my crazy schedule with the hot tub since you have to sign up for a 30 min slot. I got the same room twice (I requested it from my previous stay a month earlier) and it was clean and comfortable. I even did some yoga on the floor and it was clean. The bed is somewhat hard but I like that, and the pillows are very full and don’t have a lot of give. There are a few options for lights and lots of space for your clothes. The fridge kept my food and drinks cold. Finally, it was my birthday that second weekend and they remembered, which was very sweet. They left me a nice welcoming surprise, which I appreciated. 100% stay there!

An historic house located in the Village of North Bennington's Historic District, the early 18th century Eddington House Inn is within walking distance to restaurants, the Bennington College grounds, the Park-McCullough House Museum and Paran Lake. Two self-contained suites offer a bedroom, sitting room and bath with shower. The third suite has a bathroom across the hall with a claw-foot soaking tub as well as a shower. Inn amenities include a full breakfast every morning, cable television, high-speed Internet access, onsite self-parking, and refreshments available throughout the day and evening. Two suites provide business travelers with desks, computer connections and printer/scanners.
My husband and I had a delightful visit at the Eddington House Inn. Our room was comfortable, even though our bathroom was across the hall. This is something that should not discourage anyone from taking this room, as the bathroom was designated specifically for our use and was a very nice room. Our innkeeper, Mark, greeted us warmly upon our arrival and cooked an outstanding breakfast for us the next morning. The Inn has a comfortable ambiance, which leant itself to nice conversation with other travelers, and with Mark over breakfast. We highly recommend the Eddington House Inn and hope to stay here again another time.

Adorable and comfortable place. It's under new ownership. They have thought of everything-- understated decor, rugs, comfortable beds, bathroom items, fire pits in back. The breakfast is delish with fresh eggs from their own chickens and home baked bread. We've been coming to this area of Vermont for many years and this place is a cut above anything else. The owner Jorge said they're about to open the heated pool.

I wouldn’t even give this place a 1, but this review will not let me select anything less. We booked a 2-night stay at the Wrens Nest cottage at the Inn, and after getting lunch in Manchester Center, we got to the Inn around 4pm to check-in. After waiting about 5mins we were greeted by “Kaitlin” (unsure spelling) who checked us in and gave us the keys to our cottage. After a few mins attempting to get into the room, hardware was loose and wobbly and keys were not turning the deadbolt, the key broke in half with half stuck in the deadbolt. We immediately went in and found “Kaitlin”. We told her what happened and she said she would get maintenance. After waiting for about 15mins, we had no updates so we went back to the cottage to inquire an update. “Kaitlin” was at the cottage door while maintenance went to get “tools”. We asked if there were any updates, but there were none. How the whole experience started, and no updates on how long it would take to handle this issue, we told her that for the price and our time, we wanted a full refund and would be leaving. “Kaitlin” got rather huffy puffy and said, “ok, then you can leave”. She was the furthest from hospitable, was not apologetic and did not offer up any alternatives to make us feel welcome. She acted like we were the irritation, not the fact that we took time off from work, drove an hour and 15mins each way, packed and looked forward to an enjoyable weekend away. However the inn did nothing to keep up on their property or room that they were charging us $800 for a 2night stay. The light outside the entrance to our cottage was not working, their keys/door hardware were not in functioning condition and the door hardware was very loose so clearly this was an issue with other guests but never fixed, and the patio near the restaurant while it looked nice with outdoor heaters, nothing was shoveled to allow guests easy access. The whole experience was unacceptable and it amazes us that this inn qualifies to be a Select Registry property.
