Reviews on French food in Accra, Greater Accra, Ghana. Stretched along the Atlantic Ocean, Ghana's most populous city boasts glittering beaches, monumental buildings, museums, libraries, galleries, traditional markets and lively nightlife. Accra's architecture reflects its colonial history, with 17th century castles standing alongside modern skyscrapers. A veritable melting pot of cultures, the city's central financial and shopping districts contrast sharply with the less affluent residential areas surrounding the urban core.

opened a few montsh ago, good for excellent Coffees ( rare in Accra) and nice sanwiches and sweets ( French) and Savoury
The Deli is attached to the Movenpick Hotel in Accra; it offers nice, lighter menu options to complement the hotel restaurant - take away or sit-down. There is a wider variety of hot meal offerings at mid-day, but you can still get a nice sandwich there later in the day. If you just need something small and (relatively) inexpensive but don't want to get in a taxi to go find it, this is the place. And if you are looking for a really rich chocolate dessert, go for the chocolate mousse!

I really enjoyed eating at this restaurant at the Mall. The decor was delightful and the food was sublime.

If you want a gourmet French meal, there are other places you can go. Le Grand Ecuyer offers very good, well-priced French/Togolese food in a quaint atmosphere. I have visited on a number of occasions and the food has always been fresh and tasty. The steaks are always a good option, not the finest cuts of meat but well cooked and juicy. Fish has always been fresh and served in well-matched sauces. Beware of the rice dishes, you will be served a MOUNTAIN of food, share between at least two people! The service is nothing to write home about, quite slow at peak times but I've never had a bad experience. Despite its semi-roadside setting, it is well enclosed by plants and the heavy wood decor inside creates a cosy but ambient environment

La Brasserie by Wood is located on the grounds of Alliance Francaise Accra and is a relaxed and intimate restaurant featuring French and Italian favorites fused with local Ghanaian spices and ingredients. Fusion comfort food!
I just spent a lovely Tuesday afternoon at La Brasserie with my favourite neice. Our taste buds were pleasantly surprised by the savoury yet sweet flavours of the mixed grill platter. I would totally recommend this place to anyone looking for a calm environment to enjoy breakfast, brunch, lunch and even dinner. Definitely a ten out of ten.

Le Tandem is a small, semi cozy restaurant in the same building/compound as a small hotel. Seats about 30 people and the decor' is circa 1970's.After being seated we were presented with four small squares of toasted bread with this delicious soft cheese We ordered two starters. First one was sautéd scallops; small and a bit too much garlic for my taste. A great salad with fresh radicchio, goat cheese and shave parmesan could easily be shared was the other starter.Having read about the duck confit, we were disappointed it was not available. An issue with bird disease or something wiped out much of the domestic duck population. Both of us opted from the lamb shoulder, simmered for over seven hours, the crusty scrapping from the pot added a meaty flavor to the dish.Very moist, but not soupy.Vegetables were - what do you want? Robert ordered mashed potatoes with mushroom. Delicious Scalloped for me; crusty, not burnt. And the ratatouille - better than what I have eaten in France/Paris!The wine cellar is not really a cellar - more of a pantry with no door. No wine list; you walk in with the proprietor, discuss the wines and he gives you a price. Decent selection. Storage is sad - temperature - for a decent wine. Prices were reasonable. Decor/ambience -3Service - 6 Wine - 7/8Food - 8/9.Overall very good. Obvious regulars there. Highly recommend the lamb shoulder, salad and veggies!

La Chaumière seems to have been in Accra forever and it shines as a beacon for good quality cuisine with friendly service. The food has always been, and continues to be, first-rate. The grilled grouper in a pepper sauce was as good as I've eaten in West Africa for ages. The interior design is relaxed chic. The serving staff are efficient and friendly, and the owner and his wife are charming hosts making sure that they come to the table of all diners.Small car park and it can get very crowded, so best to book a table.
