LOCATION: Were were staying at the Levi Deal Mansion B&B. It's a 0.8 mile walk, not bad and a great way to work other muscles after riding a bike all day on the GAP.
FOOD: I had the Virginia Ham meal and started with the bread bar and chili. The bread bar is FANTASTIC. All of the food was delicious. I can't recall what my friend had but we both were very happy. The prices were much higher than I expected in a small town, but it was good.
SERVICE: Very attentive, no complaints.
ATMOSPHERE: This is an adorable local spot. When people enter, the staff knows EVERYONE and asks how their family is doing. The reason I'm giving 3 stars instead of 4: as a person of mixed ethnicity (1/2 Southeast Asian and 1/2 English/Dutch; 100% American) two other patrons at the establishment gave me that look... the look of "Huh, Why is SHE here?" So, I was a bit uncomfortable due to the male who looked at me that way when we were waiting to be seated and the woman who looked at me that way when we were seated and eating and she was headed towards the bread/chili bar.

My daughter found this place while looking for things to do at Deep Creek Lake. It's a small but delightful shop, with a variety of products. Wonderful wines and exquisite cheeses. They also sell a variety of pickles, jams and condiments. The staff is very knowledgeable and friendly.
They described each cheese as we tasted it. The Allegheny chèvre is smooth and creamy with a slight tang at the end. Cave Dweller is a semi-hard cheese similar to asiago. Mountaintop is a milder blue cheese. The Moo and Blue was my favorite by far. I loved everything we sampled!
They are a bit expensive, which is the reason for the 4 rating. Otherwise it's perfect.

The food is okay, nothing spectacular, and definitely not worth the hefty price, nor the long wait. Five dollars for a grilled-cheese sandwich, which they call a panini, but it's not. You want a bag of chips with your sandwich? That's another $1.25. While you wait (and wait) for your meal, feel free to browse the vast selection of country-kitsch merchandise next door.
For my visit, they had one choice for pastries. Therefore, not a good choice for breakfast.
It's very annoying when you order the special--as advertised on the chalkboard--and they tell you that you can't have that.

Serving breakfast, lunch and dinner every day, The Cornucopia Cafe serves dishes using local ingredients, specialty coffee and a bar with beer and wine.
Stopped here before a hike at the recommendation of our inn. The place is cute and they had a good selection for breakfast. Several of us had the panini egg sandwich - and one had a bagel sandwich. Food was good - and the panini...MoreHello SweetPea, Thanks for the review! I myself order a half-panini frequently for breakfast, as it's so large. Hope to see you again! Emily

I was in the area and decided to try there wedgies. I ordered a special request wedgie and it was just wonderful! The lady who took my order was kind and sweet. Wait time was short which is great. Prices are normal for a pizza shop. Plan on returning again in the future with my family.

Penn Alps Restaurant offers a varied menu, including its well-known daily soup and salad bar and weekend buffets. The German ancestry of the Amish and Mennonite charter members of this nonprofit organization is reflected in many entrees on the menu. We also have an adjacent Artisan Village
We have enjoyed several visits to the Penn Alps complex. The Penn Alps Restaurant is a large structure housing restaurant, crafts gallery, bakery, et al.
Today we set on sights on Penn Alps Restaurant Crab Cakes (Maryland Crab Cakes, of course.)
Service: Very Good
Ambience: Bright with sunshine; multiple dining rooms
Dining: Maryland Crab Cakes
We recommend.

Had delicious meals at the savage river lodge restaurant while we stayed at the lodge. The food really is quite gourmet. The only down side is a rather long wait time but you can tell the food is then fresh and overall it is worth...MoreHello Christina C, Thanks for much for leaving the review! The Casselman Restaurant is a time travel to the 1950's.
We like the great menu, and the dining.
Service is fine.
Also, visit the on-sight bakery.
Brother elected the omlette, which was filled with nearly one-half pound of excellent ham. Sister enjoyed the roast Turkey, and I was in a roast beef dinner.
Highly recommend, and the drive from Canaan Valley was most pleasant.

Traveling through the area and found these guys on TripAdvisor. Decided to stop based upon the reviews. Very good. We ordered omelette (ham and cheese), country fried steak (very tender) along with mashed potatoes and green beans, finally the soup and salad bar. Worth the stop.

I've heard about the Hen House for years, and our friends have been going back there since their college days in Frostburg.
Well worth the turnoff (Finzel exit) from I-68, and a lovely drive on the old National Pike. Keep driving on that country road afterwards, it's just so scenic and mellow.
Yes, all the fried food is delicious. If I've stayed away from fried food all year, this is the place where I will make an exception. For starters, the Onion Rings are tops. All the seafood, the chicken, are lightly battered and not greasy. They know how to do it to perfection. Order it all.
We took our dessert home, because we were just filled to bursting. But we just couldn't pass is up and splurged on that later without any guilt.
Yes, we will come back. Probably take the exit to the Hen House every single time we'll pass by from now on.
