An incredibly welcoming and friendly service, delicious breakfast and renovated, spacious and nicely decorated triple room with a balcony. The hotel is in the centre of a small lovely village, 15-minutes ride from Schluchsee and Wutach gorge.

Lovely location
Reviewed By maxine cWe stayed here for 3 nights. We have stayed in the Black Forest several times previously but this was our first visit here. We had the family room with an upstairs area for the children. Overall, the stay was good. The stairs up to the children’s room were very steep and I wouldn’t recommend them for really young children. Breakfast was nice and typical of hotels in this area. Service was good on the whole but a little ‘frosty’ at times.

Reviewed By CoherixMattSWe loved the 'bottomless coffee', delicious marmalades, and hearty breakfast buffet. The rooms were very comfortable with modern facilities. The staff were very friendly and communicated perfectly with me in English when my limited German speaking wasn't quite enough. There is even a fun hiking trail directly from the hotel itself. I researched many places to stay in the southern Schwarzwalds and this turned out to be ideal for us.

A small hotel
Reviewed By Paulina_BaliIt is a nice hotel located a bit remotely :-) in the south part of the Black Forest. If you want to explore the region, Alsace, Lake of Constance it is a good place. Our room was a bit cramped and the isolation between the rooms is pretty poor, you can hear your neighbors sneezing :-) The owner is very friendly.

Huge room and a petting zoo!
Reviewed By Trevor VMy family went in February 2016(3,5,7) and we would definitely return. The staff was so gracious and kind, the restaurant was great and had plenty of kid options. Biggest surprise was that at 0800 and 1700 they take the kids to see the horses, ponies, pigs, cows, geese and chickens on site in the barns. They let them feed them and even ride and groom the horses AT NO COST! Very family friendly and family owned. We stayed here to do skiing at the Feldberg ski resort. Only 25 minutes away- easy drive. The apartments are like houses and have all the appliances (minus microwave) of home.

Nice views, but bungalows need work
Reviewed By Pixie835We did not know before our stay, that you had to heat your bungalow using a wood stove. There was no mention of it on the website nor on the reservation confirmation, so, we did not pack warm clothes for the evening. Our host did tell us upon check-in, that there was wood available for use to make a fire, and showed us where it was located. We did not realise that meant that we had to heat the entire bungalow using firewood. The bungalow was clean and even though the walls had been painted, some of the floors could be updated (kitchen area). The heater in the bathroom is broken, so, in the morning, it was very chilly. I called the host to let him know but he said that once the heater is on, it stays on and does not turn off automatically. He knew it was broken but did not offer this information to us upon check-in and did not offer another solution. He did say that in order to stay warm, we should get under the bed covers and it should be fine. Even though our host was pleasant and the bungalows had enough space for four persons, we will not stay here again. We did enjoy the Dorfstüble; our hosts run that as well. Excellent food and cozy atmosphere.

Reviewed By MankilusCharmante Unterkunft in ruhiger Lage. Genau das Richtige für alle, die abseits von Hektik und Trubel bei Schwarzwälder Gemütlichkeit abschalten wollen. Super geeignet als Ausgangspunkt für Wanderungen oder Ausflüge in die Umgebung (Rothauser Land, Feldberg, Titisee mit Badeparadies, Freiburg im Breisgau, Schauinsland, Kaiserstuhl, Europapark, Elsass, Basel und vieles mehr). Die Gastleute sind zuvorkommend und hilfsbereit, hier fühlt man sich wohl. Wir hatten, entgegen anders lautender Beurteilungen, jeden Abend warmes Essen (außer am Ruhetag, da gab es einen kalten Imbiss) und es wurde sogar nach unseren Wünschen gefragt. Geschmeckt hat es auch! :)
