Knowing there weren't any good lunch places along the interstate, we decided to head over to hwy 250 on our way back to Charlottesville from Richmond. We stumbled upon this little place and decided to check it out. It was a very good choice. The place is very pretty, well decorated, clean. We were greeted and served by a friendly young woman right away. The food was good. My husband had crab cakes and I went with a chicken bbq sandwich. They have many sides to choose from. The menu is quite varied, from dinner options to hamburgers. I noticed that they also offer takeout family sized meals. Catering is also offered. The best thing about this place is how they make you feel at home. The owner came out to chat with all the guests, making sure everyone was pleased with their food. She was also able to tell some of the local history which was very interesting. There is a little antique shop next-door, making this an even more fun place to stop for a lunch break. Definitely worth finding.

On Rt. 522 in the middle of nowhere this converted gas station/ retail market is worth the stop. Breakfast and gourmet sandwiches this cafe is open 6 days a week. Breakfast includes cinnamon pancakes, knockwurst and eggs, ham and cheese and veggie lovers delight. Specialty sandwiches include the sailor, cheesesteak, Pohatanian club, the Polish Boy, the Virginian, and the standard bacon Turkey and Swiss. Salads and kids menu available along with catering and platters. Small place, friendly service. Worth the drive for sure. The new Powhatan State Park is right up the road,

I've been a regular since Eccoti has opened. Great food, service, and Martinis. My favorites are Limoncello, Chocolate, and Espresso. Interesting menu that you won't see elsewhere. Current Strawberry Tiramisu is outstanding, especially with a Chocolate Martini.

Service is wonderful Food is good. This is a family style setting where you serve yourself. Food arrives in bowls, 2 meats, veggies, rolls, all the fixins: that all family members can serve themselves. More like a real family setting and dinner. Able to have a conversation at the dinner table and not feel rushed or have to cook. Something for everyone to enjoy

I always love stopping here on the rare occasions I can get out of work early enough. They have cool sodas like Mexican Coca-Cola and Cheerwine and Blenheim ginger ale, which makes an amazing mixer. They carry snack sized Route 11 chips in several varieties , and their desserts are tasty, but I always get the Boston Cream Pie.
Their steak sub is dang good it tastes like real steak as opposed to pressed meat drowned in cheese and grease, and I have enjoyed their pizzas as well as other subs. Never had a complaint in the many times that I or my family have been here, and I will continue to come back. And I will continue to hope they stay open a little later one or two nights a week, it would do my dinner planning a world of good.

Ordered take out and ended up throwing my food away. The food was cold and it was less than a 10 minute ride home. The wings were almost plain because there was very little sauce. I hope that this was an odd experience but I doubt I'll be visiting again.

What a pleasant surprise to find Frida's (now Kahlo's) in this area, not known for Mexican cuisine. So delicious, not greasy, or cheap and cheesy. We were told they will even make mole on order. Yum. Food was hot, beer was cold. The staff couldn't have been nicer.

Piedmont Smokehouse, has updated a historic and iconic Goochland building to dedicate to traditional Virginia-style Barbecue. The menu has all of the traditional items such as Pulled Pork, Smoked Macaroni and Cheese, Smoked Pit Beans, Creamy Cole Slaw and Potato Salad - and will occasionally feature a different deliciously smoked meat - such as Brisket, Spareribs, or BBQ Smoked Pulled Chicken.
Good food. He will have to update the offerings for food. Take your time and enjoy it. No need to rush. I suggest a 10 day to 2 week trip.
