A Chinese restaurant on Austria seemed funny to me at first, but after I tried their food I was sold. It's delicious and their prices are fair. I would recommend trying this place out.

This is a far newer and more upmarket option than most in town and gave the impression of being where local business people would meet rather than the traditional tourist stubes. We had. Many drinks here. On another occasion we walked past at 930 pm after dinner elsewhere. Town was very quiet. But at least a dozen people were at Platzl drinking happily and noisily. It seems to be a later night venue when all others close.

It's a amazing relaxed place in a old (15 century) and new house. You have a nice mix of culture and new style also in the kitchen. Austrian Traditional food mixt with new style . All dishes where realy amazing homemade and no Convenience food !!! Absolutely fresh realy amazing and nice
We had beef brawn, chees dumpling soup, tomato soup, semolina soup and as main dishes fried cod fish, Tafelspitz (cooked beef), matjes fish and mixed grill. All was realy perfect for us. I can really recommend this restaurant!!

This family owned guest house and Bistro has just been renovated. The multilingual staff are extremely cheerful and
friendly helpfully suggesting local choices. The snails were unlike any we have tried elsewhere prepared the local way with onions and bacon. Steaks were extremely soft and tender. Great selection of wines to match; very highly recommended

Had a lovely rib eye steak here. It was busy nearly all the tables were full so the poor waitress was rushing around trying to cater for everyone. Having said that the steak was mouth watering good. washed down with a couple of beers. An enjoyable meal for the first night of our holiday.

We stopped there at the end of a popular trail. The food was Ok but the service was simply bad. For example- when a bee fell into my beer- the waitress said "not my problem".
Sums it up..

In a rustic atmosphere offers fine regional and Mediterranean cuisine is celebrated at its best - and just this apparent contradiction makes the Oberforsthof Alm in the Alpine village so popular.
I came here while on a short trip to St Johann. The views are spectacular and the decor inside and out is warm cosy and inviting. You can sit on the Terrace or inside with full glass surround so you dont miss out.
I had schnitzel and my dad had curry and both were lovely, the dessert i had was yummy. This would make a fabulous place for a family evening or special occasion, day or evening winter or summer.

I owe it to Johannes to tell of a wonderful stay at Gasthof Gruenholz -but I would rather keep it a secret!
This lovely family run hotel is high up the mountain between Arthurhaus and Hochkonig villages. The views from here are spectacular and the ski buses run regularly so its easy to connect with the local ski areas but peaceful at the end of the day. Fantastic ski area and Wow..the ski piste maps are easy to interprete!
Transfer from Salzburg airport is an easy hour's drive but I think it would be as easy to take the train to Bischofschofen, then a 15 min taxi ride to hotel.
The rooms are simple but very clean, warm and comfortable. The sauna area (under the roof) is a welcome plus at the end of a day skiing. I loved it!
Breakfast and supper plentiful and delicious and a generous snack was offered in the afternoon, too. One evening, we had a wonderful mixed meat fondue.
The staff were all polite and friendly. (Next time, I hope to converse in German with you!)
Brits- don't be lazy- brush up your German before you go...this is a hotel for Austrians/Germans/Dutch and the restaurant is filled with locals in the evening. I struggled to communicate meaningfully; but it felt wonderful to be "properly" abroad.
