Just OK but with excellent breakfast

Reviewed By DarrenR507

Stayed for 1 night B&B this week on business and generally enjoyed my visit. The grounds and countryside surrounding is lovely. Check in took a while as for some reason the chap couldn’t see my name on his booking sheet but then managed to. Room was ok, spacious enough with decent facilities (albeit tired) but very stuffy. The windows can only open ever so slightly so wasn’t a great sleep for that reason. Bar area and service was generally enjoyable with reasonable prices. Breakfast was probably the highlight - excellent choice. Would return as represents ok value for money.

Great location, comfortable room, friendly staff

Reviewed By Bubbles73uk

You know what you are going to get with a Premier Inn, they offer comfort and cleanliness at a great price. The bed is always the thing that matters in a hotel, and their beds are just superb - the mattresses are so comfortable. Add to that a decent shower, tea/coffee in the room, and free internet with free parking and it is a winner. Staff service polite, friendly and helpful. The only thing I didn't like was that you couldn't open the windows so by the morning I was starting to feel a bit stifled - but there is air conditioning.

the place to stay

I had need of a hotel for the night at this side of Gloucester and found the Barnwood., the perfect location for my needs I was very impressed with the staff in particular and the hotel in general was of a good standard although I did not dine there as I dined with friends from the area. As with all hotels the tea and coffee supply in the room was a bit lacking, but I always carry coffee and whitener with me on these trips. Having said that I am sure the staff would have got me more had iIasked. All in all it was a decent and friendly hotel and next time that I am in the area would not hesitate to stay at again.

Disappointed

Reviewed By angelabP6153NQ

We stayed here for a rugby weekend having stayed before on several occasions. Requested room on 1st floor and this accommodated. On check we were told no housekeeping unless requested, but could towels, teas and coffee replenished if needed. But disappointed as other hotels I’ve stayed in are more or less back to normal. Thought hotel looked a bit tired and weary compare to previous stays. Room was okay but unfortunately we had an adjoining room. Could hear folk chatting next door and on 2nd night I woke up with the sound of next doors snoring. Bathroom was a bit shabby and bath panel had a hole in it. Bed wasn’t as comfy as previous premier inn hotels. I normally love their beds. Reception staff very friendly and helpful. We had breakfast during our 3 night stay. Everyday breakfast was very good. Lots of choice, friendly staff, food piping hot and well worth the money. Had drinks at night in way back to room again great choice and selection. Sorry but won’t return to this hotel will try the new hotel at Gloucester Quays next time.

Not a proper double room

Reviewed By JVS2301

Two single beds, pushed together, does not make a double room. The 'disabled' emergency alarm by the bed was badly placed, and was accidentally operated twice during our three-night stay. In the end, we had to move the two beds away from it, and this then prevented wheelchair access to the far side of the beds. The Wi-Fi was poor, with only 30 minutes' free use, and difficulties connecting to it. The bathroom was not in good repair. As all too often the case, the key card stopped working after only one night, even though we were staying for three. Overall, cheapish, but poor quality.

Hatton Court Hotel

‘Contemporary country house with the Cotswolds warmest welcome’ Set high on an escarpment overlooking the Severn Vale this 45 bedroom country house hotel lies between the Cathedral City of Gloucester and Regency Cheltenham. Hatton Court provides the right balance between traditional hotel service and all the benefits you would expect from a contemporary hotel. The Tara Restaurant is renowned locally. It is an ideal place from which to explore the Cotswolds. Hatton Court is a reassuring size; not large and impersonal, nor too small. As a former splendid Cotswold home the feeling is of being eminently comfortable as opposed to grand. Nothing is hurried. The reception is very much a lounge, with leather sofas, magazines and an open fireplace for those chillier days. Next door the bar is more a place to relax, take tea, read and talk than to rush. The care taken to prepare the food, combined with a smiling service, is complemented by the thought that has gone into creating the Tara Restaurant. Fully refurbished in late 2009 the natural colours and soft lighting make a relaxing environment for friends and relations to enjoy each other’s company. Private dining facilities are available in the equally well appointed Cotswold Room. The peace of the surrounding countryside and comfortable bedrooms, some with whirlpool baths, make for a good night’s sleep ready for another day exploring the Cotswolds.

Ask for a room with updated bathroom!!!

Reviewed By Pohkiss

Needs a big overhaul - reception area and bar area are lovely, but the room was poor, mouldy curtains, marks on sheet, old stained carpet, dirty fingerprint marks on doors, the bathroom was not fit for purpose, was absolutely horrid, I was amazed that they actually would sell a room with such a poor bathroom .
