The dumplings, soups and dim sum are outstanding. Service is fast and friendly. Food comes out as it’s made, in any order, so be prepared to eat in any order. Seating is comfortable in a open dinning room and from many tables you can see the kitchen. For a quick and delicious lunch, it doesn’t get much better. We recommend the spicy dumplings and sticky rice. These were our favorites. They don’t take revelation, so plan accordingly.

Raffi's Place Restaurant

Our party of 5 ate here on Tuesday, 3/11/18. We arrived at 6 PM and were quickly seated: the restaurant filled up shortly thereafter.

We ordered two appetizers: Hummus, and pickled vegetables. The Hummus was excellent, the pickled vegetables were good but nothing out of the ordinary. We then ordered 3 different entrees': Shish kabobs, lamb shank, and Rack of lamb. The entrees are very large, and come with copious amounts of rice, and nice variety of grilled veggies. The Shish kabobs are chunks of beef filet, skewered with slices of onions and green peppers. The filet was cooked to order, and fabulous. The lamb shank is boiled and served with huge amount of herbed rice, my son said the shank was so tender and tasty. The rack of lamb included 6 lamb chops, rice and grilled veggies. My son gave us one of the lamb chops, they were well seasoned and super tender. I tried one of the alternate rice selections, and got the rice with cherries in it ($3 uncharge). This rice was sweet and loaded with small cherries, very delicious. For dessert, we ordered coconut gelato, it was awesome: chocolate cake (just ok); Spumoni cake, also just ok; and Faloodeh, a persian sorbet with vermicelli noodles, cornstarch, rose water and lime juice - it was terrible! Ha ha, the waiter kind of shook his head when we had asked about this dessert, our person just did not pick up on his cue!

Tips: Entrees' are pricey in mid $20 each. we had a few wines, appetizers and desserts, and our tab was about $220 before gratuity. Valet parking is available at rear of restaurant, and public parking garage is nearby.

Great food! enjoy!

After filling out the customer card on my first visit, I got an email for a free entrée worth up to $17 the week of my birthday with the purchase of another, so two friends and I went to their Glendale location. We started with the artichoke hummus, a perfect plate to share, just as our waiter Gary suggested. The crisped flatbread had a nice sprinkle of shaved red onion and the texture was just slightly chewy, a nice pairing for the slightly lemony hummus. This is a very generous portion, so unless you are very hungry or want to take some home, I would recommend this for at least 3 people to share (and we still took some home).

I couldn't decide between the trout with pepita crust for $20 or the 12 oz pork chop with cajun spice for $24 so I asked our waiter, and easily decided on the pork chop when he said the pork chop was a favorite. One of my friends still opted for the trout so we traded bites. We enjoyed the crispy skin, but the fish was overcooked and dry, which no amount of lemon could help, so we told our server and he offered either a redo or something else. They removed the charge for the fish when she opted for a substitution of the poblano quinoa for $13.

She liked the poblano quinoa better but would have preferred less lemon or something to offset the flavor, like some butter lettuce to scoop it up or some endive spears. She said she liked it enough to take her leftovers home (where I'm sure she will eat it with some lettuce).

I chose the pork chop that was done perfectly medium, juicy, and the cran mango compote served on top gave a bonus burst of flavor. The yukon mashed potatoes and spinach with garlic were nice supporting players on the plate, but the pork chop was truly the star. I ate about half of the plate and took the rest home, but my other friend literally cleaned his plate (I think he would have licked it if he could have gotten away with it).

They gave me a complimentary birthday ice cream scoop with a candle that I had no room to eat, so we asked for 2 spoons so my friends could enjoy it. When we got the bill, they had given us the wrong discount so we brought that up to our server who said if he couldn't make it right he would send his manager to us. It was resolved without needing to escalate it to management, but it ended our evening on a slightly uneven note since our service was so good. I would definitely go back, but I would also always inspect the bill before paying it.

Golden Road Brewing

Locally brewed beer and amazing Pub grub with a chef driven influence awaits you here at The Pub at Golden Road. Kid and dog friendly, bring your family, bring your friends, heck bring a stranger!

Reviewed By fro2 - Pasadena, California

This pub has so much going for it. Forget that it is crowded and a bit noisy. It draws crowds of people who actually communicate with one another. There are minimal sports screens since these patrons are socializing. It is warehouse- like with concrete floors, tables, and a pub style bar with food service.
We sat at the bar and had fabulous service as well as a great conversation with the our server Christine. From this location we could see all of the taps and get the lowdown on beers from her.
The food menu is not vast but the dishes were great as are the prices. I had a Portebello burger with fries ($10.50) and my husband had a Grownup Grilled Cheese ($11.00) that he raved about. Of course, the beer is a highlight of this establishment. If you like a dark, sweet beer with coffee undertones try Sunset Coffee (20oz $7).
Now for the drawback. There is very little parking available that is free. The street obviously fills up quickly and we had to pay $5.00 for parking in their valet-only, off street parking lot. Plan on adding that to your bill!!

After having this restaurant recommended to us by several people, we were so looking forward to a wonderful dining experience. We were so disappointed! Our waiter acted like he didn't speak English....I asked him what was the most popular item on the menu....after three times, he responded "kabob"....not steak, chicken, lamb.....he just said, "kabob". We are not Middle Eastern....or Armenian...obviously we were all trying to figure out the menu. He offered no help....never once explaining any of the many dishes offered. The same with the dessert menu.....no explanation at all!!

From the moment I walked in and experienced the festive Decorations, to the end of my perfect meal, I was enthralled with this restaurant. Probably the best Mexican-restaurant I have been to in Los Angeles and I’ve lived here for many years. I will definitely be back here in a heartbeat. One of the nicest things about this restaurant is when they give you chips at the beginning of your meal they offer you three delicious sauces. One is a fresh tomatillos based salsa that taste like it was just made A few minutes ago for you. The other is a mole based salsa which is incredible. So flavorful. And they also give you a little bit of guacamole to go with your chips. I love that! I had the sopes Which were better than I’ve ever eaten, even in Mexico. This place is very delicious, and the waiter was super attentive without being obsequious. I’ll be back soon.
