We stumbled across this restaurant, and noted how busy it was for Sunday lunch. The service was friendly and prompt, and the portions were generous. I had the seafood chowder starter and the seafood salad, both of which were really good. The Donegal Blonde beer went down well. The duck was great, as was the ‘surf n turf’, that day’s special. I think the portions were such that I would not go for a starter in future – a positive, not a criticism!

Visited here for a spot of lunch after my partner and I had been to the cliffs.
pretty uninspiring menu followed by pretty uninspiring food.
We both opted for the soup which was vegetable, tasteless, bland and stringy, again our sandwiches that we ordered were tasteless and served on cheap nasty bread with no garnish.
Very disappointing.

We are a family run takeaway, cooking good food, fast.
Have to say food here is lovely , have visited several times when I'm in glen seeing family. Food is very well priced and you certainly get a lot for your money. Will certainly be returning ???Thank you so much for your kind review, and we look forward to seeing you again.

This place is pleasant enough inside and we were about to order a meal......BUT we saw the single waitress struggling to serve plates laden with...(and only a few miles from one of the biggest fishing ports in Ireland) frozen, shaped fish!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WHYYYYY? The plates had piles of chips and those awfully shaped fish with plates half full of coleslaw! I didn't expect fine dining but really??? There was also a strong smell of frying oil in the eating area. Come on Glencolmcille...I have happy, happy memories of this village and want it to do well. What a beautiful area but it's dying. Shame......

I went back and forth regarding what to put for this rating. I ordered the sweet and sour pork and I hate the fact that the pork and sauce was very soupy. I far prefer less sauce and chunkier pieces of port but this was exactly the opposite. The pork combined with the sauce and fried rice tasted marginal at best worthy of no greater than a 3 rating in TA. However, when I tasted my gf's beef fried rice, everything changed. Her beef fried rice was hardly edible worthy of a TA rating of 1. I'm taking the average of these two ratings and ending up with a 2 which I feel is a generous rating. You can do much better than ordering from this place. Such a disappointment !

Glencolumcille isn't exactly overrun with options for eating out, so I was happy to see Benny's appear last year and happier still to find that they're still in business. But it's no surprise. This isn't the healthiest food around, but it's delicious and fast, and you get fairly big portions for your money. The fish is superb, but I also love their sausages.
Benny's accepts orders by phone. If you can, call ahead to save yourself some time. You can find hard copies of their menu around town or view it online on their Facebook page. They always seem to be busy when I go by, but they work hard to bang out the orders and they've always got a friendly word for everyone.
This isn't the kind of food you can eat often but it's a lovely treat and a must try when in Glencolumcille.
