I have been here twice this summer. Once in May and once in June the food is great but I really wanted the Carrot cake and on both occasions they didn't have any. I was very disappointed.
Service is good. Food is delicious!
A lot of choice on the menu.

The chowder was just the right consistency - very tasty. We both had the beet salad and found that they had been very generous with cheese and candied pecans - yummy. My only suggestion would be to leave the beets in larger pieces. We didn't have dessert since strawberries are not in season. Server was attentive without overdoing it. Clean and welcoming.

Hello,
If you like food and you don't care about what you eat, and you aren't going to bed then you should try them. A lot of their food is deep friend and covered with gravy and it has a sort of novelity effect on you.
It's something that you try once and if someone is going there then you will like to go there, but I'm not too worried about if I go there. A lot of people really enjoy it, and i'm not saying their food is terrible, but it's nothing special either. I would eat there if someone was going there, but wouldn't make a special trip into glace bay to eat at this place.
If you have a chance to eat there, then I would eat there, but you can be the judge for yourself.

Stopped in for lunch in Canada Day. Most of the restaurants seemed to be closed, but Mikes Lunch wasn't, and appeared to be fairly busy.
I ordered the chowder and fish Sandwich combo (special). Everything was tasty, but the fish was slightly overlooked for my liking.
Big portions for a decent price.

This visit was about 45 years in the making. Here is the short story. I grew up in Toronto and played baseball as a young teen with Brian whose family was from the 'Bay Bye'...I got to know so many people from Glace Bay that the visit this August and to the CHIP TRUCK was mandatory.
The chips and the hot dog were great, my wife wants to return for the CHIPS. Now the interesting thing here is that the truck is owned by another friend whose family I also know in Toronto so we had a special visit at the Truck and I got the story about the truck and I was pointed in the direction of where everyone lived.
I phoned my buddies when I got back to let them know that I was in the Bay Bye and I had me some chips Bye....wonderful people all of them.

Restaurant, bar and coffee shop. Glace Bay's place to Take a Load Off!
We were in town for a Celtic Colours Concert. Didn't have a reservation so we were seated at the bar. It was surprisingly comfortable and the wait staff was very friendly and informative about the area. Excellent menu with interesting choices that hit the spot. Excellent bar drinks and local beers. They were very busy but kept things moving along and got us to the concert in more than enough time. Highly recommended.
