The Resort to Rest, Relax and Enjoy the Beach at Gili Meno
Reviewed By BorderlessTravelerMy wife and I choose Mahamaya in Gili Meno off the Coast of Lombok Island, Indonesia, to celebrate our 50th birthday, to rest, relax and do some snorkeling. Mahamaya resort is not a big resort, only 20 bungalows and 2 beach front bungalows, in the property. But the lack in size, make up in service and facilities. We were greeted by Mr. Bastian who take care of us from the day I call to make reservation, making sure our airport pickup, boat ride to the island is in order and ensure the facilities are as promised. He is truly the go to person for us. The front of house team of Mr. Bastian, Mr. Rama and Mr. Hamdi truly assist us. We book the Beach Front Bungalow. The room were good size with king size bed, sofa, a mineral water dispenser that double as fridge (They took the Green concept to heart by providing us unlimited water in the dispenser and less plastic waste). The bathroom is a private-outdoor bathroom with rain shower, sink and toilet. The bungalow are 10 meters away from the beach and the quiet comfort of the small resort, really unsure us to have a rest and relax environments. The food and the service at the restaurant is EXCELLENT. My main person in charge here is Mr. Sahrul, who taking care of us every single day and also preparing the “Dinner under the stars for us”. He always suggests the best and freshest ingredients available (like the freshly caught fish that the chef grilled). The chef Mr. Sofian and Ms. Safira, make excellent island food. Everyhting is very tasty to our liking. Also, when we lounge on the beach, we were always serve a cold water and fruit (snorkeling makes you thirsty and hungry) if not with Sahrul, Mr. Isnan also help prepare the drinks. Like I said, the team at Mahamaya works behind the scene and everytime we go for a swim or walk around the island, our room were always kept very tidy by the housekeeping team of Mr. Zohri and Mr. Susanto. On top of that, Mr. lalu, the security, always keep us feel safe and secure. Everyhing we left in front of our room were always there when we return. Why I mention all the people in Mahamaya in my review, because they are all the people who makes our holiday a relaxing, safe and worry free. We can enjoy the island, the beach, and the time spent together with your loved one. Did Mahamaya in Gili Meno succeed our expectation, yes they are. I would suggest to contact them directly for reservation because sometimes the price and availability in travel websites (Booking.com, Agoda, etc.) are not updated in timely fashion. By contacting them directly, I was able to customize my holiday to get what we need. Thank you and we will be back again soon.

But to be avoided when group tours are in residence because clearly the manager of the hotel thinks it is absolutely fine to allow yoga sessions on the beach with 11/10 volume levels starting at 5.55AM where the yoga instructors scream orders into a microphone at their students. Lots of people in the hotel on vacation and looking to sleep in who were all up in arms. Hopeless and unavoidable

A very peaceful and harmonious resort
Reviewed By Daniel VWe spent 7 nights at United Color of Gili. This was a very relaxing stay for many reason. First Gili Meno is a very quiet island without any motor noise, just bicycles and horse carts... It is such a pleasure every day to walk from the UCG to the diving center passing by the school and between the poultries that are on the way... Second, the resort is very small and very harmonious (pas de faute de gout as we will say in French). The rooms are perfect size with an outside shower. The bamboo wall delimit a small yard (with a small jacuzzi) allowing for privacy. The common area has a beautiful swimming pool and a dining hall, all perfectly sized. The staff is very nice and very unintrusive. And the food is very tasty, simple but delicate with rich flavor. Finally we had the chance to meet one of the associate owner (Yves) and we had a very good time with him and his friend Michel going diving... So highly recommended...

Good snorkelling location, expensive and terrible food

Few things I wanted to say about the Two Brothers: -Very limited options for breakfast (pancakes/toast with eggs and cheese/Omelette/fruit plate)(coffee/tea/milk) You can only choose one option each. Pancakes and omelette were not nice, there are only onions and cheese in the omelette. We didn't drink tea, coffee options are Lombok coffee or Nescafe instant coffee. We were never told if we order more than 1 coffee with our breakfast then will be charged nearly SGD3 per cup for A Instant Coffee! I didn't like their omelette so decided to order the fruit plate which includes banana watermelon and pineapple, the second day I tried to order the fruit plate again was told they run out the fruit! We had lunch once at the hotel and it was really not nice. It was our second time staying at the Gili Meno so we know our way around pretty well, we also know there are plenty places offering cheaper and better food options than Two brothers. -There is no fan in the bathroom so every time you go into the bathroom it was like a sauna especially after shower. I have requested room cleaning because toilet bin started to smell after the second day. But they cleaned the room left the toilet bin untouched. - The manager insisted to charge us a 3% fee when check out even we were using a local debit card. We went to Gili meno in March 2018 stayed at the Mallias Bungalows and we had such a great time. Unfortunately Mallias no longer in operation after the earthquake, so that's why we chosen Two brothers. We didn't have a good experience staying at two brothers and when we complaint to them they couldn't care less. Not recommended.

A few days in paradise
Reviewed By Roger WWe had a wonderful 3 nights at Meno House earlier this month. The team at the hotel are very friendly and welcoming, making you quickly feel at home. They go out of their way to look after you and do whatever they can to make your stay a happy one. The rooms are spacious, extremely well decorated and spotless. Large comfy beds, large wardrobe space and beautiful outdoor shower areas all add to the experience. It really is a little piece of paradise and it would be wonderful to return someday. Unfortunately the majority of hotels and bars were closed when we visited as Indonesia had only just relaxed its Covid restrictions and it was sad to see the island as it was, many of the properties around the shoreline were closed/derelict. It is hoped that, as tourists start to return, that the island and islanders can comeback from the last two years of decline.

Beach-front Bungalow with a Hammock!
Reviewed By Durga Julia SA very tranquil and peaceful getaway. Perfect for resting and beach life! There are 4 bungalows facing the white-sand beach (more towards the inside of the property). Mine was the smallest and cheapest one; my friend's was the newest one, really beautiful and more expensive too. Mine: mosquito net around the double bed, large bathroom (without a wash-sink), standing fan (no AC), a small cabinetry for clothes, one ceiling bulb, a balcony with a couch, a small table and a personal hammock... and that's it. Very rustic, but that's ok with me. I had to ask for my mattress to be changed after the first night. It was not in a good condition. Sometimes the fan wasn't needed. I enjoyed the cool ocean breeze and the mosquito nets on the windows, which need maintenance. Breakfast was good, the attention was not the best. The cottage was cleaned twice in our ten-days stay. They offer guided snorkeling tours (which is a must if you enjoy the ocean) and connection to other things to do in the island, such as horseback riding. The owner and his wife were very kind and welcoming! There is no drinking-water fountain and no WIFI in the premises, but the nearby warung (restaurant) offered both. We enjoyed our time in Gili Meno, it is a beautiful, peaceful and in-recovery island!!

Reviewed By dr_evil889For a resort just reopening after C-19 had shut down the island we were extremely well looked after. The staff was very helpful in anyway we needed. You have to love a place that seemed to have an endless supply of ice cold beers.

Located 70 meters from the beach, these three beautiful bungalows are located on Gili Meno Island, Indonesia. All our bungalows feature natural Alang-Alang roof, with ensuite bathrooms, double bed and spacious terraces for relaxing on, where you can enjoy our beautiful garden. While most of this natural island only has salt water showers, the Fantastic Cottages offers it's guests fresh water showers.
