I came for the famed Hida steak, and Le Midi actually offered various flavors and grades. In addition they offer a fairly extensive menu covering a wide price range. I tried the A4 grade steak lunch set (150g) which set me back about 8000 yen. Steak was tasty with nice texture, whether it was worth the price tag was another issue. Service was excellent, and the sides and the soup were also very good. Overall a very good dining experience.

We used tripadvisor for most of the restaurants while touring Japan. 100% of the time the reviews were accurate. However this time I was very disappointed with food My husband wanted steak so we chose this restaurant as it was convenient to the hotel I didnât want red meat so called ahead to check they had an alternative on the menu. The chicken. Is the worst Iâve tasted. It was like rubber abs under cooked. I sent it back to be cooked more but I was unable to eat this disgusting food. We paid £90 approx for basically a plate of chips ! And a steak meal. Worst meal in japan !

My husband and I were craving something other than Japanese food and found this place. What a gem! The proprietor did everything, waiting, preparing from scratch, cooking and bartending. It was fantastic, we had a Caprese salad and pizza from a wood stove. To make things more difficult he had 2 Italian groups of customers, and by the time we left, a full house. I can say that it is some of the quickest and most pleasant service we have had and a great meal too. It's a bit off the beaten track but worth it, highly recommended.

We decided to go to this restaurant in Takayama based on its wonderful reviews. We rang and made a booking and then we decided to walk there from the station. unfortunately there were 2 number 26s on the map that the Tourist Information Bureau at the station gve us. So after some searching we found some very helpful people, and in the end one lady actually drove us there.the restaurant was a surprise. They had opened up jut for us, there were no other customers. We sat at the bar and watched the chef make us dinner. It was fabulous. the Antipasto was great, the Beef Cheeks in Red Wine delectable and my husband's pasta simply fabulous. lovely chianti too.The owner spoke little English but got better at it as the evening progressed.It was a great little restaurant no we had a fabulous time. Highly recommended.

Happened upon this lovely restaurant by chance. What a wonderful chance! Sitting at the bar and watching the chef prepare our spaghetti carbonara and mushroom with chicken risotto was theatre itself. The food was delicious. Following this amazing meal we were entertained by the owners' dear little baby who is definitely learning the family business at an early age. Do yourself a favour when in Takayama and eat here. You won't be disappointed.
