What a fun food experience we just had at âThe Fish n Pigâ on Lake Tobesofkee in Macon GA! Everyone who worked there was kind and friendly! Got to sit next to Walter (age 90) who is apparently a legend with a painting of him on the bar wall. What a delight talking to this man and one of the owners sitting next to him! Discussions included the Braves along with boiled peanuts, grits hush puppies and barbecue. And let me say their barbecue and hush puppies are the best Iâve ever had! And the lakeside setting is beautiful! If youâre driving through Macon itâs just 5 min off I75 and very worthwhile!

I am a picky eater and I had a hard time deciding which meal to order because they all look so good! I ended up choosing grill shrimp, grits, and grilled veggies. The flavor was fantastic! My spouse got a fillet mignon, fried shrimp, baked potato, and grilled veggies. Other than not enough shrimp, there wasnât a complaint from that corner either. Wait staff very attentive and good food made for a wonderful dinner!

As usual, Back Burner was a wonderful place to eat. The wait staff were very attentive, and the food was excellent. My friend and I both had Cajun fish topped with crab, potatoes O'Brien, lobster bisque, and we shared a piece of the multi-layered caramel cake. We got there at 11:30 and stayed until 3:00. We never felt hurried. We had a wonderful time renewing our friendship with wonderful food, service, and atmosphere.

Nice ambiance, very good service and wonderful food at a very reasonable price. Our granddaughter suggest this place and accompanied us. I knew it was a chain but had never eaten at one. All three of us loved our meals. They were accommodating to my wifeâs request that her fish be grilled in butter rather than oil. My and my granddaughterâs steak were cooked exactly as ordered. I also appreciated the fact that the chef understood that when potatoes au gratin are listed on the menu that it should just be potatoes and cheese without other things like onions thrown it but not listed as an ingredient. Wish more restaurants would list all ingredients rather the serving something different from what we thought we were ordering. Definitely will be back here and look for other locations

Nicely decorated with a small patio on the street side. Definitely gives the vibe of an aged NOLA hangout. Standard bar food that isn't particularly well executed. The corn bites are great - just the right crust with a very creamy center. Fried green tomato is better avoided - tough breading on an even tougher tomato that lacks very much flavor. The shrimp and grits is passable. The jambalaya is truly dreadful - mostly just rice with peppers and few small shrimp scattered in that tasted way too fishy for good shrimp. On top of that the service was at best described as slow. There are now a lot of choices within a short walk.

Often described as the local's favorite seafood restaurants in Macon, GA, Jim Shaw's Seafood Grill has been open since 1979. This casual eat-in restaurant and bar serves some of the best fresh seafood in town. The restaurant is only open for dinner and th
As usual our review of Macon, GA restaurants on TripAdvisor led us to great meal. There were only fast food restaurants around our hotel near the by-pass so after a long drive we chose to drive to Jim Shaw's Seafood Grill. Our trust in TripAdvisor paid off. Jim Shaw's was not fancy. Parking was limited on site, but there was adequate parking across the street. We were seated immediately upon our arrival. The restaurant was full of patrons and table turnover was rapid. Our waitress, Winnie, had worked at Jim Shaw's for 30 years. The offering of wines was very limited, but we chose a 99 Vines Cabernet Sauvignon from Lodi, one of our favorite appelations.Jim Shaw's had an extensive list of fresh fish that Winnie said was delivered twice a week. We chose blackened redfish as it was so ridiculously low priced. The fish entree was accompanied with two sides as well as the most delicious hush puppies. Our salads were generous. The fish portions were large as well. So not only was our food fantastically scrumptuous, the portion sizes were larger than we could fully consume. We thought about ordering key lime pie or salted caramel cheesecake for dessert, but we had not room in our stomachs for such. In summary, if you are traveling through or live in or near Macon, GA, you must experience Jim Shaw's Seafood Grill. You will not be disappointed.
