Waffle House

I used to eat here quite often but will no longer frequent any Waffle House after they fired their employee who was protecting patrons. Other than that, this Waffle House has some very good cooks and friendly waitresses. The food and prices are standard Waffle House. It is hard to get to due to the reconstruction of the I-95 interchange that it is located on but that will be finished with a new bridge soon. Parking is adequate and the building was re-done a few years ago so the roof no longer pours water on various tables. It is one of the better Waffle Houses in my opinion just leave your self defense hopes at home.

Calamari appetizer delicious! Main meal was awful! Ordered “fresh catch, Wreck fish” fish was mushy, not flakey at all, so I assume it was over cooked. The crab cakes smelled and tasted spoiled, unable to eat! Fried shrimp were tough and chewy! Our water glass refills were filled from a pitcher, by the waitress, and it had something that tasted like flat Sprite. Nice atmosphere and decorated nicely for coastal and on the water dining! Friendly wait staff! I sure hated that we had a bad experience because we have a place on the river just around the bend from the Fish Dock and enjoy eating at a restaurant that we can go to by boat!

Loved the fried shrimp... best I’ve had! So sweet !! Ordered side of okra... not over fried, really good. Hubby found the Brunswick Stew a bit too vinegary. His alligator tail was too chewy for me. Crabcake has barely any crab. But I’d come back for the shrimp anytime!! Great waitstaff. Even gave us sweet tea in travel cups before we left...because they knew we were on the road. It’s those little things you remember.

B & J's Steaks and Seafood

Reviewed By Aquaholicbabe

Only in town for a few nights, our family stopped in late Sat eve after a short wait (We're the only larger group at the time). Friendly server took our drink and meal order. Within 15 minutes twin toddlers and Grandma devoured their pizzas with gusto. Pizza was full of soft melted cheese and Marina on a crisp crusted pizza. Hubby and I delighted our taste buds with their Seafood Buffet (only on Fri & Sat nights) and couldn't find anything that wasn't fresh, delicious and prepared well. We had the freshest crab legs and shrimp. One of our kids wanted crab legs over her pizza! Hubby said his fried shrimp were some of the best he's ever had. Side dishes were cooked to perfection, especially green beans. Salad bar is what you'd expect with lots of variety and options. The only downside is the variety of food on the buffet. Many fried options. Desserts were delightful! Light and fluffy red velvet cake and Banana pudding made for a perfect ending to a Fantastic meal! There's a reason this place is a local favorite.

I don't even know where to start....there's tiny clocks symbols on the menu which means there's a 35 minute wait for that entree and literally half the entrees have this little symbol on them. The menus have scratched out items and prices with new prices written over them. The crab Stew was tasteless, it was a basic Roux with crabs and potatoes with absolutely no other flavoring not even salt and pepper. The baked potato had no flavor except for the sour cream and margarine that they served with it. The appetizer dishes were left on the table while the main entree was served. There are no Fountain drinks all soft drinks served from a can and then a gathering of cans was also left on the table. If you did not want to wait for 35 minutes for your entree you had order fried seafood, which was tasty if it did not come out cold which one of the entree did, hence the two stars. With all the excellent places to get Seafood in this area, Speeds kitchen is not worth going out of the way for.

Sapelo Station serves good food and is a friendly place to go. Not at all fancy, they manage to have a balanced menu of seafood options, grilled, fried, broiled, with interesting side dishes. They have a reasonable selection of bottled beers and mid priced wines as well as well stocked bar, which considering the location is impressive. We always stop at Clay’s when we are I. The area.
