Discover Restaurants offering the best American food in Savannah, Georgia, United States. Charming Savannah is the picture of antebellum hospitality, thanks to period architecture and oak-lined streets. It’s tempting to spend your trip just relaxing on vast verandas and sipping mint juleps, but there are plenty of historical sites and museums to explore. Haunting (and possibly haunted) Bonaventure Cemetery is one of the hallmarks of the city, featuring beautiful obelisks, masses of flowers, and ivy-covered crypts. Dine on fresh seafood and creamy grits for a taste of Savannah home cooking.

We walked here from our Airbnb, felt like we were in a whole different world from gussied up historic Savannah. A very popular spot with those in the neighborhood it seems, since many customers greeted each other and the restaurant staff. Not very many tables and as many folks doing takeout as eating in. Our timing was good and we got seated right away. Quick service, huge portions of eggs, grits, biscuits and other southern breakfast dishes. Very tasty and a lot of food for the price. But if you are counting calories or are on a low salt diet, stay away!

Stopped in on a Sunday afternoon while walking around Savanna’s Historic District. It is a few blocks from anything but worth the walk. They say there is nearby parking but because I was walking I didn’t pay attention if there is a lot. There was plenty of street parking.CBP is a large place with a long bar, a couple different dining spaces, with tables, booths and high-tops. Several TV’s were tuned to NFL football but the sound was off or low. The feeling was much more a historic neighborhood gathering place than a sports bar. The crowd seemed equal parts locals and tourists. The bartender and servers were welcoming, quick with recommendations and eager to please. I mentioned to my server a family member with a number of food allergies and she immediately provided an allergy-informed menu, emphasized their practice to avoid cross-contamination of fryers and suggested calling ahead to confirm conforming ingredients and preparation. This was impressive and more consideration than I’ve experienced at much more expensive restaurants. So the important thing is the food, right? The menu is long with offerings to satisfy any taste. Seafood, pasta, salads, burgers, special meat and fish entrees and deserts. I enjoyed the meatloaf burger with sautéed veggies. The meatloaf was served on a bottom bun, topped with a hefty helping of mashed potatoes, all covered with beef gravy. Delicious! Observing others it was apparent people were choosing from all sections of the menu and several people commented they couldn’t finish their dish. I finished my meal with “Georgia’s best peach cobbler” with ice cream. It, too, was a large portion, served hot with vanilla ice cream. Hard to finish but even harder not to!Whether a local or a tourist, I’m confident you will find friendly service, a great meal and a high-value experience well worth the short walk to CBP. It is not a five star or five dollar-sign restaurant. It’s just a comfortable place with good food.My internal compass tells me it is located on an imaginary line between the Residence Inn and Forsyth Park.

We stopped in for drinks following our dinner at the Olde Pink House. This place is very cool. It's in the basement level of the Olde Pink House and has very low ceilings, stone walls, etc. It feels like you're in on a great secret. There was live piano music and there were candles lit along the bar. It's dark and cozy and a great place to visit.

We were seated on the back porch. The rain made the ambiance perfect today. We started with the crab dip. It was a warm cheesy dip served with French bread. We had the firecracker shrimp tacos and seared tuna tacos. The shrimp were awesome and the tuna was encrusted with tasty rub. I appreciate you taking the time to leave us a nice review here on Trip Advisor. That was quite a rainy day we had on Saturday. I am glad you enjoyed your visit and I hope to serve you again soon. I will be sure and commend my staff on a job well done.

From the snooooooty attitudes to the overpriced and decidedly unedible food - this place is a collective no!Had to wait almost 5 minutes for the ONE person who could make my cappuccino - nobody else in line - just moi! And - it tasted terrible! The croissant was bland, lifeless & chewy in a disgusting way - definitely less than fresh.

This was our first visit to Mrs. Wilkes Dining Room and we were not disappointed. Food was delicious and plentiful. There is a huge variety of vegetables and sides. Meat included fried chicken, meatloaf, and BBQ. Banana pudding and fruit cobbler was dessert. It is served family style. My husband is not a vegetable person but he still loved it. The meatloaf was excellent! Mrs. Wilkes' granddaughter was going from table to table chatting with the guests. She was very nice. We will be back.

Four of us went for dinner on Friday night and we had wonderful food and excellent service from the minute we walked in. We sat at the bar for a few minutes waiting on a table and the bartenders were very friendly and nice. Our server, Yasser, is an invaluable asset to this restaurant! You will not find a more professional and knowledgable server anywhere and he made our night perfect. We really appreciate great service and Yasser is definitely great!! Now, the food is also important and everything we had was fabulous! Cheese plate appetizer, crab cake, filet, a beef and shrimp and scallop plate and a dessert and I can tell you that I’ve never had better food. We are locals and how I have missed trying this place is a mystery to me, but we WILL be back and very soon! In fact, we will become regulars for sure!

My friend and I went to the Kayak Kafe for lunch based on the Tripadvisor reviews. It is a casual, comfortable restaurant with a large menu. We had a difficult time deciding what to order because everything sounded so good. Upon their recommendation, we ended up ordering the same thing the women at the next table had! We were not sorry. We split a black eyed pea burger and a chicken quesadilla. Both were tasty with the burger being exceptionally good. It was so unusual and very flavorful. We were very hungry but still could not finish the large portions we were served. The staff was friendly and efficient. Will definitely go back to Kayak Kafe next time I am in Savannah.

Make a reservation now, because there’s nothing ordinary about this place! Our Sunday brunch was incredible, made even better by our fabulous server Cassie. While the veggie tacos and grilled cheese and soup were great, the standout menu option was steak, eggs and grits. You’ll get a huge plate with flank steak cooked to order, drizzled with a perfect chimichurri sauce, on top of a huge pile of Gouda-studded grits. I’m smiling just thinking about it. To drink, they have four really unique Bloody Mary options (Bloody Tommy if you love spicy verde) and a truly delicious collection of cold brew coffee-based cocktails (try the Southern Russian!) $12 bottomless mimosas are always a win; when you’re ready to leave, you’ll even get a Togosa (to-go mimosa) to sip as you stroll. Nope. Nothing ordinary here!
