Daar voege

I was very disappointed from the student dinner (15⬠for 3 courses). Having a look at the menu, it looks very nice, but the three courses for students were a big disappointment. To begin with, the courses we got are not available on the menu itself. The best course was the soup, unfortunately not more than three sips. As a maincourse, we got a hamburger, with low-quality meat (kind of a Frikandel) and a very small portion of fries. The vegetarian option was some kind of puff-pastry with a bit of cale. The dessert was a slice of pink gelee. All in all, this was unfortunately not even worth the 15⬠we paid. It seems to be a good restaurant and I am sure the food might be better, but I wouldn't go back there and would not recommend to take the student dinner.
Although the lunch menu is well restricted it's hard to make a choice because everything on the card seems to be delicious. Small changes, such as an omission of ingredients is no problem at all. We indicated that we wanted to share some dishes so they automatically put some extra plates on the table. Hospitality is on a really good level with friendly service. We enjoyed several dishes and they all tasted excellent. Fresh ingredients and tasty combinations. The quantities are just right. My favorite sandwich is the rib-eye sandwich. You can choose from different types of breads but rib-eye on a corn sandwich is an ultimate taste experience. According to our friends and their children the salads and burgers are great too. Café Premier is a must if you want a good lunch in a casual and relaxed atmosphere. The quality price ratio is extraordinary. So we will be back to taste something different from the menu.

This is a very quaint and lovely quiet restaurant with some great choices in wines and food. All the food we had was terrific. If you like mussels this is the place to be. I swear they served me a 4 pound pot full. And they were divine. Everything on the table including my daughters vegetarian dishes was delightful.

We were invited to Oranjerie by some friends. It's very nicely located in the backyard of a castle and it is a former greenhouse for winter storage of orange trees hence the name. Although the interior is quite nice, I felt they could have done much more with the place. For starers, I felt the light was too bright. Secondly, the place has an enourmously high ceiling which definitely qualifies for some chandeliers but instead a couple of rather simple - and bright - lamps hang from it. At some stage there was a very cold draft, albeit that it was the coldest period in the country for God knows how many years. The food was good. We took the chef's surprise menu but had it explained before we ordered. The a la cart menu is somewhat limited. When I asked for the menu, they brought an iPad instead of giving all four of us a menu card. Interesting... Anyway, the food was good apart from the lobster bisque that one of felt was way too creamy. Particularly in the summer this must be a great place to eat. Perhaps than a Very Good. We would come back to try if in the neighbourhood.

Had lunch here. Good food but the price was way too high. 15 euros for a sandwich and two alcohol free beers. It was just the sandwich, no sides. Expected to see some salad and fries aside for this price. A bit of a disappointment.
