If you are visiting downtown Gaylord, Alpine Chocolate Haus is a must stop! They have so many delicious goodies. Ice cream, popcorn, fudge, chocolates of all kinds and some rather unique treats.
I definitely recommend picking up some chocolate covered potato chips.
They had a nice selection of sugar free chocolates as well!

8 of us went for dinner and the staff was superb helping us celebrate our mother's birthday.
Everyone's dinner selection we're generous in size and nicely presented. The schnitzel and pretzel encrusted brook trout were both excellent. Three of us had the oak plank whitefish, the first few bites were great but the plank was so hot the fish continued to cook and was very dry and well done if you didn't eat fast. The salmon and havarti baked shrimp received rave reviews.
Excellent value in a nice Northern Michigan setting.

Enjoy the World Famous Cops & Doughnuts bakery treats 7 days a week. Located in Jay's Sporting Goods - Gaylord, Michigan
Yes, that's exactly what we did. We had been on the expressway for a while and though a short detour to Cops & Doughnuts is exactly what was needed. So, we got off at the South exit into Gaylord, headed a couple miles north until we saw Jay's and at the north end of that building is Cops & Doughnuts. There is plenty of close parking, there are all sorts of doughnuts, cookies, good coffee AND T-shirts, coffee mugs, etc. After we had our bag of goodies I drove north into town and rejoined the NB I-75. It was a great break, we walked around a bit and will probably do this again...very soon. Do yourself and your family a favor and take a break. You can even sit down inside to enjoy your favorite sweet treats!

We are a family owned, fine casual restaurant with a full bar. We have a unique menu, 90% of our food is made in house and is prepared behind an open kitchen. We are connected to The Old Spud Warehouse.
I love that they have a smaller menu, with excellent choices. Everything I have had here has been amazing. The decor in the building is so fun and adds to the experience.

Had the opportunity to eat here the past weekend. The place was crowded, however service was still prompt.
There was a person playing guitar and singing for entertainment. So, the noise level was quite high.
I order the "hand cut" steak at the recommendation of the waitress. Ordered it medium rare, but was delivered medium. I guess "hand cut" should not be confused with tender. The steak was very chewy. I had to use an ample amount of A1 steak sauce to make it palatable.
My daughter had the fish tacos, which she said were quite good.

They have recently moved from the other side of the street to this very nice location serving the best in quality and at a very resonable price. Recently added beer, wine and mixed drinks to the fair and serves the best breakfast and lunch in Michigan.
Another diner that gets by with whatever fell out of the Gordon's Food truck. I ordered black tea and got black tea with mint. I used my own tea bag. We were seated at a clean table with dirty placemats and the waitress didn't change them. Service was very very slow.

We stopped in for a late lunch after shopping fro appliances. They have a pretty nice menu selection like soups, salads, hamburgers, sandwiches, BBQ, and dinner features, like perch and ribs. A long list of craft beers. Took awhile for our group to pick something. One had the grouper sandwich which came with great potato chips. We also had an order of the chicken fettuccini alfredo, quesadillas, BBQ baby back ribs, and a rib eye steak. The rib eye wasn't that great, baked potato was under cooked, ribs didn't have enough BBQ souse to permeate through he meat. The buffet didn't look that good, salad bar was inviting, and the green beans were very good. Grouper sandwich was tasty. Portions were very ample.

Opened A Few Months Ago
We stopped in Gaylord for the night on the way up north and were looking for a good restaurant in the area. Trip Advisor reviews did not let me down. The food and frozen margarita was excellent and very reasonably priced. Service was fast and friendly. We had the burrito and enchiladas. Since the portions were large, we had to skip on the desserts. We will definitely return.

We ate lunch at Phat Pita and we both really loved their lentil soup which was vegetarian. I had the curried chicken schwarma, that had just enough curry to make it really interesting and delicious (although I would have liked a bit more curry). The prices were quite reasonable and the service was good, even though we stopped during their lunch hour. This was our second time eating at this restaurant and we will return.
