Reviews on Steakhouse food in Sandton, Gauteng, South Africa. Sandton is an affluent area situated within the Johannesburg Municipality, Gauteng, South Africa. It is well known for being the richest square mile in Africa. The name comes from the combination of two of its suburbs, Sandown and Bryanston. In 1969 Sandton was promulgated as a municipality in its own right, but lost its status as an independent town after the re-organisation of South African local governments.

Found the restaurant on google and based on the website, we decided to celebrate birthday's. Being from Durban, the restaurant was slightly difficult to find based on WAZE. Parking is very inconvenient as we had to walk in heels to the restaurant which was a good walk away. Upon the elevator doors opening, the restaurant is beautiful, well lit and spacious. we where escorted to our table and asked immediately to place our drink orders. Once the drinks arrived we where asked to place our orders. the waiter insisted we place our starters and mains at the same time. We asked the waiter for his suggestions and ironically he pushed the most expensive meals down our throat, R900 for a steak sheesh dairy cow or not that is a bit much! However we managed to order what WE wanted. The prawn and avo starter is absolutely amazing and is a must try, for my main i had the sirloin steak, was not the greatest but was good. The dessert menu then came, and i had to remind the waiter that we where celebrating two birthdays'. I made a reservation and sent a follow up email to confirm this. I was a bit annoyed with having to remind the waiter that we were celebrating a birthday in front of the people who where celebrating their birthdays. We received ice cream with a card. We also had the ice cream cookie, nothing extraordinary, but the cinnamon meringue is amazing.Visit for the experience, and Instagram photo but nothing would really make me want to return.

Chaplinâs found its roots in Melville since 1980 and Rainold Petersen who moved to Hurlingham in 2012, changed the name to Chaplinâs Grill in tribute to his legendary Melville-based bistro â a gem amidst the fine dining establishments of Joburg in the 80â²

In the heart of Sandton, on Nelson Mandela Square, is the flagship Johannesburg branch of The Butcher Shop & Grill: an institution in South African dining. For over 20 years, our unmatchable steakhouse has been as much a part of SA culture as sunshine, re
We had the Chinese barbecued ribs (not the typical choice for a steak house) but they were absolutely delicious. The service was mostly excellent. The only negative - there was a large group of Chinese men seated not far away and they were incredibly noisy. We asked the server if anything could be done and she said no. I would have rated the restaurant excellent if not for this. I'd definitely try the place again and hope that the noise level would be a little better.

Welcome to The Grillhouse Sandton, Johannesburg's most loved and well established premium steakhouse. Established in 1995, The Grillhouse offers the perfect quadfecta in dining - great food, a huge selection of fine wines and malts, stellar service and an
I love the Grillhouse Sandton but the service outside on the deck on a Friday evening is shocking. The place is packed and people are eager to spend but canât find any waiters. They donât seem to have sections or tables they are assigned to and there are not nearly enough of them. When you catch a different waiter and order, nothing happens. If you order from a manager, nothing happens. The San Bar up the hill from you has always been like this and thatâs why people donât like going there. You need to fix this, guys. Youâre losing money and soon you will lose clients.Good day T-Africa2000. We express regret about the experience you had at our restaurant. Thank you for taking time to send us feedback, all feedback from our clients whether positive or negative is very welcoming. We strive to provide great food and service and would like to address the issue. Please email me [email protected] and we will get back to you. Thanks and have a great day further.

Best Steakhouse in South Africa awarded by The Wolftrap steakhouse championships. Offering kitchen tours and beef courses. Beef all aged on the premises and cut to order.
This well established restaurant has been here some time & has a great atmosphere & friendly staff. The menu is quite extensive & caters for a variety of tastes. However, was disappointed with all the hype around the steaks from grass fed animals. Had medium rare to medium fillet steaks & found them quite tough. Must be an acquired taste.Hi KarenThank you for your review. We have an immediate exchange policy for just this reason...so sorry you have to chew through a piece of beef you didn't enjoy. After the ageing process the beef should be tender and juicy and we only select beef from farmers that are very selective and care for the well being of their bovine. If you are back in SA and have some time, please visit bus again and I will personally see to your beef experience.Wishing you many happy steaks, regards Steve.

Wombles is a destination restaurant which comfortably caters for corporate groups whilst simultaneously accommodating intimate diners.
What a great venue, ambiance, service and food. It was winter and they had fires outside to huddle around, before going in to the restaurant - a bit like going back into the past and reminded me of visiting Zimbabwe many years ago. Definitely an African theme. Itâs expensive, but the food is exceptional and very personalized service, including the owners/managers. Definitely worth a visit - just do it!
