Fantastic restaurant far out in the middle of nowhere. This is worth the trip and if you are a mountain hiker then check out Mohonk area. The service here is great with the servers wearing traditional German Octoberfest like wear. The Food is fabulous and quite traditional. This just is a great experience, I highly suggest!

My boyfriend and I went here for the first time the other day. The food was great! They gave you huge portions of everything! I got the pulled pork. It was amazing tasted fresh! My boyfriend ordered the tacos. He said it was good. We would return. The pizza even looked amazing too!

Was on my way home from newburgh airport and stopped for dinner. Very pleasant surprise. Greeted immediately by friendly owner and waiter. Seated and greeted. Great martini, ok bread. It was healthy. Had the ribeye steak and mashed potatoes. Perfect. Wife had chicken and mushrooms over pasta. Delicious. No dessert and reasonable. Its a keeper.

Everything about our meal was wonderful. Quaint farmhouse atmosphere in country setting. Menu had a nice variety of dishes....very fresh salads were served with delicious homemade dressings. We had Fettucine Alfredo and Veal with Mushrooms and both were tremendous. Everything was freshly prepared ....including desserts...we shared Key Lime Pie that had just been made earlier ...OMG and we are experts on Key Lime pie..Great bartender...reasonable prices....well worth the visit.

I was in the area with a good friend and she suggested we stop at Gunk Haus. Her husband is from Germany and she said he loves it there. It was a little out of the way, but so charming when we came upon it. Nestled amongst apple orchards where several local roads meet, you could easily pass it if you're not looking for it.
I saw some impressive IPAs being served at the bar. My friend said her hubby likes to go there for the great beer selection too.
We sat on the deck overlooking the orchards and the Shawangunk Mountains on the horizon beyond. It was a lovely summer evening. We were told that we could sit inside in the bar area if we were only ordering appetizers as the dining room and deck are reserved for people ordering dinner. We opted to do dinner on the deck. The dining area was charming and looked like a great place to come in cold weather, too. The bathrooms were clean and yet charming. To me, the quality and cleanliness of a bathroom are important in any restaurant and Gunk Haus had good ones.
I ordered chicken soup which was a bit salty, I thought. I also ordered German style short ribs which were so good. They came with red cabbage and mashed potatoes. My friend ordered schnitzel which came with spaetzle. I had a taste of it and it was very good.
The only real disappointment of the dinner was the blueberry strudel which we shared. The pastry was well baked but the blueberries were almost uncooked. My friend, who is an excellent baker, suggested that the blueberries were frozen. They rolled out of the pastry when we cut into it. Perhaps they could be sauteed a bit prior to putting them with the dough? I'm not sure but it was like eating baked patriey with sour, hard blueberries.
Total of our bill (two dinners, appetizer (chicken soup) and one dessert was $56 before tax. We didn't have any alcohol. Very affordable.
I noticed vegarian selections on the menu which is great for those looking for it.
There is a bakery in the front where you can get some stuffed pretzels and some desserts (cookies, brownies, cinnamon pretzels, tarts).
Such a charming place and I will definitely return when I'm in the area. I hear it's incredibly beautiful on an autumn afternoon.

Small counter service vegan restaurant just at the end of Main St business. Tasty, fresh and healthy. Visited Saturday for late (2:30) lunch and it was busy - a good thing. Friendlier and way healthier than Main Street Bistro. Stop reading and eat there right...MoreThank you for the review! We're glad you liked it. I'm curious where we lost that fifth star? We'd love to earn it back. Stay well! S

It's crowded so there is a chance of a wait.
We were seated immediately though. Our server was very friendly and helpful with the menu. We ordered the tuna wrap which was full of sushi grade tuna and vegetables and the chicken sandwich which had delicious avocado and tomato. I probably would have asked for it without bacon if I had been paying attention. The coffee was excellent too. My husband thought the water had a funky taste. I would definitely go if you are in the vicinity.

We have ate there a couple times. This is a very popular restaurant, and not very large, so reservations are essential. The menu has some interesting combinations, which not everyone will like, but our group of 6 all found something that we liked. There is also a good beer and wine list. Servers were freindly and effiicient. Note thta because of the size, it is a bit noisy. Tables at the front of the restaurant on both floors have a view onto main street. All in all, a good experience in one of the better restaurants in New Paltz.

We happened-on this restaurant when we went to their weekly car show. The restaurant sits on a small airport runway and small planes land and take off intermittent ly. On occasion, they even host parachuters! The restaurant has a large indoor restaurant and a lovely outdoor patio. There's a also a vvery friendly bar. Most importantly however is the menu. The food has never disappointed us. Italian is the main focus. There. Are he traditionall favorites but also dishes like paella, seafood risotto a variety of meat preparations and also burgers. La kids menu is available and the restaurant is kid friendly. Staff is courteous and friendly and revive is mostly timely. We've taken out of town guests here and never been disappointed. Give this restaurant a try if your in this Hudson Valley area..
