Reviews on Seafood food in Barna, Galway, Province of Connacht. Bearna (anglicized as Barna) is a coastal village in Connemara, west of Galway city in County Galway, Ireland, on the R336 regional road. Once a satellite of Galway city, the village is now rapidly becoming one of its suburbs. Officially, the village is regarded as Irish speaking and is therefore a constituent part of the regions of Ireland that make up the Gaeltacht. However, because of its absorption into the city, it has recently become a mainly English speaking village. Nonetheless, Irish is still the main language of its western and northern hinterland and the village has now effectively become the gateway to the largest Irish speaking region in the country

As a family we have lived and worked on Quay street since 1902 and have a long history of looking after customers with Martine having worked in Margaret Mc Donagh fish shop across the road (McDonagh's Seafood Bar) at a very young age. This tradition was p

Average is a bit harsh maybe and clearly the food here isnât bad and the staff are friendly and on-the-ball but I left feeling disappointed overall.Itâs Asian fusion which is largely a twist on Thai which for a main left me with a disappointing Pad Thai ( under seasoned and a bit boring although with all the right ingredients ). I shared two starters and I felt they both had the same issue of being underwhelming. My fellow dinners would certainly give a better rating for their dishes Iâm sure.
One taste and you're Hooked. Welcome to Hooked Barna the sister to the award winning Hooked on Henry street. The best, the freshest, and the sexiest fish coming to you from Ali's Fish Market. Free parking and just ten minutes from Galways city centre'
This restaurant only opened over a week ago and is attached to Ali's Fish shop in Barna. We dropped in on Saturday night and the place was buzzing. We had to wait about 15 minutes for a table but it was worth the wait. Getting our starters took a while but it was clear that the kitchen were under pressure as they do take out as well. The staff were very apologetic and were run off their feet but did their job with a smile. The Owner/Manager took time out to speak to everybody and was interested in getting feedback. The Fish is so fresh and tasty and the Decor is very well done with a maritime theme. It will take them a few weeks to find their feet but no doubt it will be a great success with great ingredients that speaks for itself. A great addition to Barna, I cant wait to go back.

I went there with my elderly parents. The service was really great. They made my parents feel very special. The cold seafood and fish platter was really good as well as the fish. Their home made brown bread made with molasses and nuts was the best bread we have tasted in ages. We commented this to our water and as we were leaving they gave my mother a loaf wrapped in clingfilm, so that she can eat it at home in the coming days. That was a really nice touch.

One of Galway's most enduring restaurants, housed in one of the city's most iconic restaurant spaces, Ard Bia has always placed as much emphasis on community experiences and aesthetic stimulation as on serving great food in a fun environment. We believe i
We stopped into this charming little restaurant located on the water just past the Spanish Arch on a rainy afternoon and inquired about dinner, making our reservation. Our meals were excellent, fresh and the proportions perfects. Hopefully, I will return to Galway again, and this will definitely be on my list!

Went to this restaurant last night because of Trip Advisor and we are glad we did. They took a reservation because we were 6 people. Food was terrific. Between us all we had mussels, oysters, fried calamari, monk fish, catch of the day and pasta with all kinds of seafood. Everything was great. Prices were extremely reasonable. They had a great bottle of Malbec which a lot of places donât have.

Had a delicious meal here. Portions were great, good price value, fresh fresh food. Sauces not too heavy, recommend roast chicken if they have it or the darn of salmon. Wine list is reasonably priced. Staff seemed a little overwhelmed, we waited about 30 minutes for our check, but food was prompt.Warm and inviting decor, beautiful patio if weather permits.

Impromptu Midweek meal out, we were seated upstairs overlooking the bay. Glorious view!! Utterly delicious fresh prawns, hake and plaice with generous portion of homemade breads, chips, potatoes and vegetables on the side. Friendly subtle service throughout. Too full to do anything but look at the dessert menu. A great reason to come back again!
