Gallipoli may be best known for its wartime history, but Apulia’s island-like fortress retains a southern Italian charm all its own. Colorful fishing boats dart around the old city walls, while resilient stone churches peer across a medieval bridge to the mainland port.

Nice looking hotel but avoid it except if you like to sleep in a discotheque !!! We were on second floor and music was so loud to we could barely speak together. We complained at midnight at the reception but they just said sorry but there is a party going on…. Nice but I don’t care, I just wanted to sleep !!! Clearly not the place to stay in Gallipoli.

Very nice hotel in a palazzo of the old city, facing the harbour and the see. The restaurant features a top level seafood, probably the best locally. With an exceptional freshness, making the raw offer great. A must try ! An last but not least, a very nice welcome.

I had booked a room several weeks ago. The day before check-in, the hotel cancelled the reservation under the false pretext that my card was not valid. The hotel then asked me to make a new reservation but by then the price of the room had tripled. My card is perfectly valid and allowed me to pay a good hotel nearby. Apparently, as Tripadvisor shows, this practice is not the first time in this hotel.

I Bastioni San Domenico Boutique Hotel Is Placed In The City Centre Of Gallipoli, In A Historical Building Overlooked The Sea. The Hotel Is Few Minutes Walking From Gallipoli Castle, sant’agata Cathedral And Purita’beach. A Continental Breakfast Is Served Every Morning And It Is Included In The Rate Of The Room. From The Panoramic Terrace On The Third Floor You Can Enoy An Amazing View Of The Sea .
We stayed two nights. When we arrived, I asked the young lady at the Reception if we could have another room as the one we had been assigned, on the ground floor, had only a small window facing the street that could not be opened and felt very closed. The lady was very helpful and booked us into another available room (with a surcharge due to change of category), and let me have a look at it before confirming. The hotel and rooms are lovely ad full of character; the building has a long history that you can really feel and observe throughout: it used to be a palace then a prison, then a convent. I love places that have such history. There is a lift to every floor and lovely pieces of furniture that give even more character to every space. Our room was on the first floor (room 10); it was large, clean, simply but tastefully furnished, there were fresh towels ad complimentary slippers. The only thing that is less than perfect is the light musty smell in the room, as well as the fact it was a bit damp. This is surely due to the fact that the building is old. It was not a big problem as we kept the window open most of the time and that helped, as well as using the air con with the "anti-humidity" function. Breakfast is served on the roof terrace with an amazing view overlooking the sea, it was a magic way to start the day. Breakfast itself is delicious: home-made cakes, muffins, focaccia and savory pastries, as well as fresh bread and fruit. The staff were all super friendly and helpful. The hotel is located in the old town and perfect for visiting Gallipoli; parking is not allowed there but the hotel will ensure permission to briefly leave the car at check in and check out. There are big parking lots just outside the old town. Highly recommend I Bastioni di San Domenico and thanks to the staff for making us feel at home!

Walked in and left. Outdated. Dirty Hotel. Room was very small. Bed hard. Staff tried to appease. Offered a larger room which would have cost 1700 euros extra!! Ridiculous fir the standard. Equally poor in quality. We did not actually stay but would not recommend. They would not refund us any money.
