I got to Puerto Ayora a bit before my hostel would let me check in, so I headed down the main street and found The Rock. I was mostly thirsty and had a very tasty beer plus I had the octopus. So many times, octopus or pulpo is over battered and overcooked, but not here! lightly cooked in olive oil with a touch of garlic, it was delicious! Hey the beer was pretty tasty too!

Great location right across from where the fishermen cut up the tuna and toss leftovers to the sea lions and pelicans. Watch the 5pm show and then eat at El Descanso del Guia. I love eating locally sourced food in traditional sauces. The tuna is superb here.

A burger and fries for $9.25. The burger is large and the fries are reasonable portion. During our 15 day stay we dined here 5 times. The service was great. My wife and I could have a dinner with drinks for $23-$27. There are not many places here you can find that good of a deal.

We found this place sort of by accident. Our regular place was full for lunch and we were hungry. The big Happy Hour sign brought us in. We ordered THREE for ONE Margaritas and were pleasantly surprised. However you can't mix and match drinks all three have to be the same. We kept looking at what other people ordered to see what was "good." We noticed a local eating a steak that looked good but found out that particular steak wasn't on the menu although there was a more expensive steak meal on the menu. Steak in Ecuador is really hit and miss with many more misses than hits but we took a chance. We ordered our food and it came fairly quickly. It turned out to be American beef (I think) and it was great. The shrimp skewers as an appetizer is also excellent .We had 6 margaritas at happy hour (all day happy hour) and returned the next day and had the same meal. I Highly Recommend this place for a quick lunch and drinks.
