Taste & presentation reduced quite a lot over the years. Disappointed with some dishes esp the sushi served via the train for the sloppiness. U eat with your eyes first right? But still an okay place to go in a group for many Seating choices and ambience. Wait staff can take a long time to notice you as they usually rush about the place with food that still seems ages before it's yours.

We ate at the branch at Batu Bersurat in Gadong.
This restaurant has a well-established reputation for serving a distinctly Bruneian dish, ambuyat. Let's be honest: it's an acquired taste, at best. It's a sticky sago paste that's dipped in various sauces and slurped, not chewed. It's a holdover from the rice shortages of World War 2 that somehow managed to remain in kitches, due to local appeal. Personally, I was somewhat disappointed with how difficult and impractical it is to eat, even if the actual mix of flavors appealed to me.
That said, I still think anyone who visits should give ambuyat a try. After all, it's rarely served elsewhere, even within other parts of Southeast Asia.
The service could have been more tourist-friendly though. It would have been very difficult to order if we weren't with a Malay-speaking friend who lived in Bandar Seri Begawan.

Kaizen first opened its branch in Kiarong Complex (having the typical plates of sushi, makis etc on an model electric train circulating the serving counter) and despite its smaller area size compared to the Yayasan branch, this place remains my favourite.
Personally I still prefer Kaizen than other japanese restaurants here in Brunei because Kaizen always maintain a very high quality & standard of this Eastern delicacy.
Take note that they close for a break between 2pm/3pm until 6pm daily. Parking spaces are abundant for evening & weekend outings, however finding one during normal daytime working hours can be frustrating.
Might be packed during month ends, so it is advisable to make Reservations in advance or alternatively visit their larger Yayasan branch which actually has a beautiful panoramic view of the Water Village on the Brunei River.

if you want to go out for a fancy indian in brunei, this is it. it is indeed fancier than most any other resto in brunei too. i'm not sure if it is THE best but it is one of the better indian restaurants in brunei. the certainly won't put sugar in your vindaloo like so many others.

Restaurant: Downstairs it looks like an ordinary "coffee shop". Go upstairs to see a totally different and lovely ambience. Good for family dinners & special occassions. An advance booking of table is recommended. Closes at 10 PM. Last order at 9.30PM.
Food; This is my favorite place in Brunei or chinese food. Try their 'Guiness pork' or the crispy fried pork trotters (German pork) - quite nice.
It has a MEILE star - perhaps the only chinese restaurant with an international rating.
Address : No 5 Yong Siong Hai Bldg, Gadong (Behind Gadong Mall on the riverside)

We have been to various branches in Bandar Seri Begawan and all had great service and food. The atmosphere of the restaurants were good. Would recommend for anyone to try. The chicken bucket and the burgers were all of excellent quality. Wish they had a branch in New Zealand.

Probably the nicest coffee shop I visited in Bandar Seri Begawan. Absolutely gorgeous green tea frappuchino. Wide range of coffee and teas and iced varieties. Lots of nice cakes, desserts and cookies.
The staff were extremely friendly and the place is nicely air conditioned and absolutely spotless. It has free WiFi and very comfotable Seating. A very relaxing place.

Le Taj is one of the good Indian restaurants in Brunei Darussalam ,it is visited not only by the Indian community here but also by the Bruneians who love Indian cuisine ,Malay cuisine is also available here.
the ambience is good and it is also good for cozy gatherings in a separate room ,the place is central and parking available ,the use of food colorings should be reduced

This popular restaurant in Bandar Seri Begawan features a relaxed, charming atmosphere and serves a sumptuous buffet, a la carte items, childrens menu, gourmet sandwiches and a variety of light snacks and desserts.
My wife and I ate in this restaurant on four occasions, two breakfasts and two dinners and each time the quality was excellent. The staff were very attentive and helpful, all with a smile on their faces. Breakfast is a buffet style with everything you would expect with the exception of bacon, being a Muslim country this is a no no. Eggs were cooked to order and were perfect. Dinner on the other hand is different as you have a choice between a buffet at B$25 or the Al A Carte which is brought to the table by a waitress/waiter. Over the two nights I ate the fish & fries, the Won Ton Soup and the stir fried noodles. My wife indulged on the steak baguette and Penang Curry. Each and every dish was plentiful and delicious. Sorry that this was our last day here.

Good location across from the football fields. Sat outside in the evening. Ordered the Mushroom Burger and Pasta. Both were excellent. Lava cake was a hit! Good selection of teas served with tea pots. Great for lunch or dinner good value for money.
