The restaurant gets really busy with waiting times up to 2 hours. If you can try and get there early to avoid the line (5pm for supper). The food and service is great :) try the deep fried tofu

While this isnât a place to carry an empty stomach to (portions are moderately sized), it is a place for a journey of flavours. One is greeted by a traditional setting, with great service and a purely Japanese menu (youâll be better off having someone who knows Japanese come along). Otherwise the staff try their bestWe had the three dish set for about 2500 yen per pax, which was seafood based. Once again, portions are small for an empty hungry stomach so donât expect to feel full. All the seafood were fresh and well balanced. I loved the fish/veg soup - it did not appear tantalising until it hit my tongue, bursting into layers of flavours. The Karage was pretty good too - and perhaps itâs portion was more worth the price. I donât take alcohol but, we saw a lot of sake going around. Many locals having their postwork meal and chatting away. All in all a lovely experience.

Very busy and crowded, so you get a time limit on your seats. Food was good, but nothing special compared to most Japanese izakaya chains. Our waittress was rude, which is very rare for Japan. It's a famous and popular restaurant chain in Fukui, but difficult to recommend over Hana-no-mai or other izakaya.

"Sauce katsudon" is a local Fukui dish, similar to usual Katsudon in Japan, except rather than egg on pork cutlet, they use worcestershire sauce. Definately worth eating if you're in the area, and Yoroppaken (or Europe-ken) is one of the best places to go.As for this restaurant, the service was quick and courteous. The branch at Owada kept us waiting a long time, but here they took orders quickly and our food arrived within a couple of minutes. They refilled our water many times, even after we had finished eating and were just chatting. They were very busy, but we didn't feel pressured by them to leave. It is not a fancy restaurant by any means, but clean and comfortable.
