Disappointing food. Hoping to find a good carvery in this part of Somerset, but this was poor. Underdone roast beef and overdone vegetables. The Yorkshire pudding was a good size but overcooked, hard and hardly warm.
Surely a decent roast lunch is not too much to ask for from a pub?!!

The Foresters is a 18th Century village Inn, set in the quiet back streets of a the picturesque village of Beckington, serving traditional beers, ciders, food and now offering accommodation. We now have 7 En-suite Rooms 4 kingsize 2 twin rooms and 1 Family room with 1 kingsize with single bed.
We have just returned from a lovely weekend at this proper village pub. It is well situated for a day trip into Bath, we used the park and ride, also NT properties Stourhead and Lacock. The accommodation is spotlessly clean, warm and comfortable. Pubs can sometimes be a bit noisy to stay in but this was not the case and we had a peaceful night's sleep on both nights. The hosts were welcoming and friendly and the breakfasts very good with a choice of fruits, cereal and yogurts followed by full English and chunky toast, if you can manage it! Portions for evening meals are equally large and we particularly enjoyed the pie and burgers. We would also recommend the cheese board, plenty for two. My husband enjoyed several well-kept beers! A measure of good hospitality is how any problems are dealt with. There was one small oversight and our lovely hosts responded with sincere apologies and generous compensation. We will definitely recommend and look forward to returning soon.

Opened in 1993, the Italian restaurant, La Bisalta, named after the mountain range that dwarfs the hometown of the owner and chef Luigi Violino, is situated in the heart of Frome. Surrounded by mature trees, the setting of La Bisalta feels almost rural. Easily identifiable by its covered canvas entrance and ivy clad upper storey, this genuine Italian restaurant offers a wide range of classic dishes. All dishes are cooked to order with fresh local ingredients by chef Luigi, who together with his wife Susan, has justifiably earned a far reaching reputation for excellent food and friendly service.
This is our daughter's favourite restaurant! So she took us there last night for a celebratory meal. The mussels then carbonara were perfection. Barely had room for the amazing Bomba Siciliana - but I managed! The owner and staff were friendly without being intrusive and even cats Toby and Tiny made us welcome. Wholeheartedly recommend it.

We offer to our dining guests an opportunity to experience the finest cuisine from the provinces of Canton,Szechuan and Beijing. And we offer A La Carte Buffet on the weekdays from Sunday-Thursday (sorry closed on Monday ). Also we do a Take Away and Delivery service too.
A pleasant evening here with a Chinese friend to celebrate New Year plus one day!
Nice atmosphere and pleasant staff. Despite having the expert with us, we went for the set menu at £25: the appetisers were excellent; we thought the duck was a little dried out; main courses ok, not super-special. No room for puds.
The far end of the restaurant was by the kitchens so Delivery drivers etc. all had to walk past on their way to/from.

The food in the evening here really is excellent from the canapé's to the mince pies and everything in between! (We were a group out for a pre Christmas meal). Service was friendly and efficient so it is surprising that The Settle isn't highly rated in Frome; a forgotten gem perhaps? It probably doesn't help that the evening dining is upstairs so the restaurant doesn't look open from downstairs but it really is worth going. The only downside was the single Christmas CD on repeat! Other eateries in Frome are better at publicising and promoting themselves so, perhaps, The Settle should have a go, they deserve it.

The award-winning Mells Cafe is attached to the village shop and was opened by Great British Bake Off star Mary Berry at Easter 2011 and became an immediate success, serving freshly-cooked food to local residents, visitors, walkers and cyclists , 7 days a week, all-year round. Accessed through Mells Village Shop, it has become the hub of the village - a popular visitor attraction serving hearty breakfasts from 9am, home-cooked lunches and delicious teas. Come and try our spectacular bacon baps, delicious coffees and teas, hearty home-made soups and salads, crispy, filled Paninis and of course, freshly made cakes and biscuits to die for. All cooked daily on the premises.
Coffee good, cakes good, light lunches good too. It is a friendly place run as part of a community-led hub of Post Office, shop and cafe, a winning combination. The kitchen is shoe-box sizes so it is a wonder that they manage to produce good quality food, supplemented by lots of local cooks. It is busy with local people, visitors to this specially beautiful village, and cyclists as a welcome pit stop.

For over a decade The Fox has enjoyed extraordinary success as one of the West Country’s premier pub/eateries. Following a major refurbishment, the venue now hosts a visionary new drinking and dining experience we guarantee you won’t find anywhere else. So come on in and take a seat. We’ve got comfy sofas around a fire for those winter months and a walled garden for summer. There are enough tables and chairs for everyone and we promise zero queueing time at the bar… because there is no bar. Instead, we have our new feature Beer Wall – an inspiring choice of Boutique Beers, craft ales and ciders, spirits and wines for you to explore. Take it easy for the whole time you’re with us and enjoy the many great experiences The Fox has to offer.
Two friends and I revisited The Fox for the carvery lunch today. Inspite of a very full restaurant, we had excellent service from Adam and his friendly staff. The food as usual, we all agreed, was delicious and it is little wonder you need to book early to obtain a table. I am certainly looking forward to my next visit. Happy Christmas and a successful
2018 to all at The fox.

We went on a Saturday. There was an arts crafts fair on in the courtyard. It was heaving!
A lovely spot lots of stone cottages and super restaurant.
The restaurant was like Paddington Station very busy.
Food took while. Others had fish and chips which tasted but did bring a bit over oily in my view.
My chicken eventually arrived late but was Pink and inedible! Not good!
Manager was apologetic and relaxed with Z burger which I have to say was oily chips and o/d with quite heavy cheese and bacon.
Might go again.

When we walked in, the pub had so many different areas we had no idea where to go. Eventually we found the dining area and were shown to our table. Food was good, drinks were slow in arriving. Ran out of Churros which they heavily feature early on a Saturday evening so advise they need to review ordering enough!
