We have stayed in Diever regularly over the last few years and always call in for a family lunch or afternoon snack. Good value and helpful staff with English spoken and help given with the menu. Family freindly with a terrace to watch the world go by.

Voor je de aandacht van het bedienend personeel krijgt ben je 10 minuten verder. Maar de koffie is heerlijk, de eigengemaakte brownie en appeltaart smaakt ook prima.

The main restaurant inside the Van der Valk Motel Assen is called 28 Dining, named after the highway A28 on which the motel is located. It is a very spacious and recently redecorated restaurant in faux seventies style. The food was pretty decent and did not take too long to come. Be careful to sit a bit out of airconditionings way.

For three days in a row, we have enjoyed the three-course menu served as part of a hotel reservation. The menu was different each time, but all of them had been prepared carefully, were original, very tasty and ... beautifully colorful. The vegetarian variant (for one of us) also was really great. The servants were all rather young, but all very professional and polite. The restaurant is located in the white, solemn frontal part of an old mansion with a distinct ambiance up to the smallest detail. Together with a nice view on the countryside --- what else could you possibly want?

We sat on the patio, lovely atmosphere. I had baked herb crusted fish with soba noodles and vegetables in a lovely broth, so good. My husband had the tournados of beef, so tender and flavorful. There were community bowls of vegetables, well prepared. The desserts were so good, I had white chocolate mousse with raspberries and a sorbet. Beautifully presented. Our guests had cheesecake, which was small, but accompanied by chocolate covered nuts and other items, but not as nice as mine. I would highly recommend if you are in this area to treat yourself.

I have already written a review of the hotel, where we stayed 2 nights, referring to the fact that we were quoted 19.50 for the fixed price menu in this restaurant and charged 29.50 at checkout. The food was not memorable, and I would not eat there again. Verbal quotes should be honored. If the meal had been outstanding, perhaps I would have overlooked the issue, but it was NOT.
Modern French cuisine with varied international dishes. It is cooked in a fair and creative way with respect for the product and the environment. Also used are regional and seasonal products.
