Local legend claims that Freeport was the birthplace of Maine, the decision to separate from Massachusetts having been made in a local tavern way back in 1789. Whether this is truth or folklore, Freeport has much more to offer, including South Freeport, a historic harbourfront village offering up a fresh catch every day. Nearby Wolfe's Neck Woods State Park and the Mast Landing Audubon Sanctuary provide nature trails with scenic views of the Atlantic Ocean over the rocky shores of Maine.

We read the reviews and wanted to check out the fresh baked bread. We were not disappointed. Plenty of people waiting to get in the bakery when it opened. Plenty of different breads to select.

I love whoopie pies, but stumbling across this place was amazing! Their flavor selection is wonderful, and the quality is top notch! My only regret is buying only two to take home. I will have to see what shipping options exist, since we only get up to Freeport a couple of times a year. Tee cakes and cream fillings are light and perfectly made; not too sweet, mouth watering. Definitely "Ten smiles in every pie"...if not more!

We arrived on time for reservation the staff set the table up and we were seated within about 5 minutes. Greeted by several friendly staff members. The service was good throughout the evening. The food was an issue this time around. Where previously we were satisfied with each dish, this time the flavors were not on par for the Italian dishes - though the sauce is still exceptional that was on the side for the kids pasta. Steak was just not good. Two in the party that ordered were not able to eat ATLEAST 1/3 of the beef. Flavor was the , the sharp steak knives couldn’t even get halfway through. At $35 each I expected something that I could really enjoy. This was far from the case.

This shop has the best coffee that I've ever had!! We stopped here every day that we were in Freeport and I got a medium nitro cold brew with one pump of vanilla and a little milk. It was so good!! Definitely worth stopping. The barista's are all very friendly and the coffee is made quick!

Located two blocks north of L.L.Bean at 162 Main Street, Freeport Maine. The Broad Arrow Tavern is located inside the Harraseeket Inn.
Place is packed all weekend for dinner(s) and they do not take reservations. Inn guests can call from room to be put on wait list if you call ahead.
Delicious seafood chowder and lobster soup. Main courses got mixed reviews from around the table. Some thought deep fryer oil needed to be changed but overall very good.

For all the euphoric flavors you can't get enough of – especially the ones you can't get in ordinary stores – nobody scoops Ben & Jerry's better than we do at our scoop shops.
When you have been tramping around the town and feel like water will not take all the heat away, go grab some of your favorite B&J flavor!

After shopping at LLBean all day, my husband and I were in need of liquid refreshment. When we entered the coffee shop, it was very crowded and we had thoughts of leaving but are glad we did not. The folks behind the counter were evidently used to the crowds and served us all in a timely fashion. The coffe never lets us down and the peanut butter cookie with hidden chocolate was amazing! Thanks Starbucks!

The fine dining option in Freeport. In the upscale Harraseeket Inn, it offers a number of traditional options, but with some modern twists. Everyone in our group appeared to like their choices (excellent salads, salmon, scallops, duck, rib-eye steak). The server was quite friendly and attentive, although we were a large group. The wine list is quite good, and has some interesting selections. The room looks pretty formal, but no one dresses up.

Stopped by on a whim and was delighted with their donuts! We even got a couple of donuts for free! All delicious and left me in a great mood! I could have eaten all of their selection and then some.
The blueberry maple was the amazing! But you can't go wrong with the glazed yeasted donut. Simply divine.

I'm a sucker for a good custard, and this place didn't disappoint. Not a whole lot of flavors, just chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry. But super yummy!
I had the vanilla, while my youngest had strawberry. My other daughter had a milkshake. They were all fantastic! SO much better than ice cream. Worth a stop for a cool treat!
