The food and wine is fabulous. We had foie gras, langoustine ravioli, lotte and steak, all of which were of the highest quality. The cheeseboard is incredible with a huge selection. The waiter helped us choose great wine to accompany each course.

Due to the fact that we were very tired, and on the 1st of May almost everything was closed we had our dinner or Jardin des Tonnelles since we were staying in the hotel. The place is small but rather pleasant. The lady in charge had the kindness to tell us what was on the menu and this is what we ordered. All dishes were made out of local products and were originally presented, though in taste were slightly less tasty than expected. Desert though was lovely. Prices were average and I guess according to other relative places in the province of France, service was imminent.

The restaurant is in a recently refurbished hotel on the edge of Essoyes. The elegant dining room opens onto a terrace with extensive views over the village. Cooking was to a high standard with attractive presentation. The menu du jour offers excellent value at 18 euros for 3 courses. Formules were available à la carte from 23 euros for plat/dessert or 29 euros for 3 course. There was a limited choice of wines by the glass. Service was professional and efficient. Overall - well worth a visit and worth booking to ensure a window table with a view.

The scenic route from Troyes to Dijon passes for a long section along the Seine valley. Parts are absolutely gorgeous. Good restaurants are rare but this one - which is also a hotel - really does the trick. Housed in a classical building everything is utterly French with French decor, French food and the best of attentive French service. You also almost feel one of the family. Just a few cardamom seeds in a salad: a real revelation.

We live locally, and it's so nice to have access to a restaurant whose menu changes daily, where everything is cooked fresh (right before your eyes, because the kitchen with it's wood burning fireplace opens up onto the room) in a delightful atmosphere. Definitly the only restaurant of its kind in the area !

We came on a sunny evening and could enjoy a local champagne on the terrace. The meal was inside the auberge. The service was friendly but a bit hectic, as if not used to deal with guests. No critic they will learn it. With every dish served we had to ask what was on our plate.. All vegetables must have come from the garden, but again nobody said so. A big minus was the wine. We really did not like the 1 white on the wine list. You are in france so please serve a french wine. Cheese plate was nice, dessert as well.

Hotel le Marius is in a beautiful village in southern Champagne and the restaurant in the Hotel le Marius is hidden away in its vaulted cellar. It is a beautiful set of rooms and a very pleasant way to let time pass you by. The food is very French and well done for a region that is rightly famous for what goes in the glass than on the plate. We went with friends and their two children who were traveling through the region - and no one was disappointed. (They cater for children with great charm.) The section caters for all tastes - and the wine list has some very good burgundy reds and whites. Have a short stroll around the village before of after - it's a place of great charm.
