We came across this great little cafe as we travelled the "Albert to Bapaume Road". Obviously the name designed to capture the battlefield visitor however the majority ov customers were locals the meus were truly cafe French, great value and great food. It turned out to be the nearest food place to our digs so became a regular for dinner with us slowly eating our way through their delicious menu! We would have visited yet again had they been open on the Saturday! We will return!

We were here last in 2015 and the food , service and price were exceptional and nothing has changed.Amazing food prepared and presented to Michelin standards. I would urge anyone desiring good food and spectacular food presentation to visit this restaurant.A score of 4.5 stars is nearly perfect.

Our second choice for the evening meal but a good one. I had duck leg, my companion had a salad. Everything was very good. the waitress - likely the proprietress - was cheery and friendly. She spoke reasonable English and tolerated my tortured French. I would recommend. When you tour the Somme, you realize why there are so many hotel / restaurant / café of the peace.

We ate here as a group of 4 in late July 2017.The food is simply outstanding, Picardy dishes at their very best accompanied by very good and friendly service.A 5 course meal cost â¬29 per head (although some dishes had small supplements). Wine list is extensive and fairly priced.Reservations are essential and the restaurant only accepts reservations by telephone - basic French is required. The location of the restaurant is delightful - on the banks of the River Ancre, with resident peacocks in evidence.....Would recommend without a moments hesitation.

Decided to eat here when we saw our B&B hosts enjoying a mid-day drink on the patio. If the locals like it, it must be worth a visit. We began with a cappuccino as we planned our day, but as evening arrived, we returned for a proper meal. Our servers, on both visits, spoke English which helped in placing our order. Although busy, service was quick and the meals came promptly. Plenty of variety on the menu too. The surrounding church and square add to the ambiance.

Allways a warm welcome by inkeeper Yannick and his friendly staff. Food served even at late hour in the afternoon ( if informed about! ). French style but British oriented pub. French/European menu, but even something aside the normal menu can be ordered. Good choice if you taste the local beer of the North of France ( le Chti )! Value for money. It is a brasserie-restaurant French style, be aware it takes time to order and to get served, just relax and enjoy this special place with lots of flags remembering WW1 history. In here one can feel as " An Englishman in Albert! " and for some who have seen "Allo Allo", have a French-English talk with the inkeeper, he is allways ready for a joke and a laugh. If you don't speak French be aware that what you ask for is well understood in order to avoid misunderstandings.

L'hotel restaurant de la Basilique is located in the center of Albert, in the heart of the somme battlefieldwe are happy to welcome you, the authentic 10 rooms offer comfort and relaxation. The restaurant propose a regional and traditional cooking, and the
We visited the 51st (Highland) Division monument at Beaumont Hamel nearby and read the previous glowing report of this restaurant. I can certainly add my wonderful experience to the excellent reports of this restaurant. We wanted to share the seafood starter with slight modification, so they served us a dozen crevettes in lieu of the specified mixture. We followed with omelettes, which is our preference, and they were very tasty. The wine and non-alcoholic options were fine. The other diners were mainly French and that, to me, reinforces the reputation of the establishment.
