Attracted from the motorway to Neufchâtel by the smell of ripening cheese, we parked next to the church (well worth a look inside) and walked up the street to this restaurant. It was Sunday lunchtime. We had the â¬12.50 menu - a salad to start for my wife, and I had some excellent charcuterie, followed respectively by chicken and for my part tender and perfectly cooked steak, frites and a béarnaise sauce served separately rather than drenching the meat as often, sadly, is the case. And then, yes, then, came the cheese. Not your usual parsimonious paper thin slice of something or other, but a plateau of cheeses - 7 in all, left nonchalantly on the table by the industrious and all-knowing lady of the restaurant with the words "servez-vous". We had generous samples of each and the plateau, only slightly diminished, went on to the next lucky diner.A half bottle of excellent wine and water only elevated the bill to just over â¬40.

We drove through Neuchaftel en Bray hoping to find a restaurant. Le Cantanzaro had a full parking lot so we figured it must be good. It was excellent. Most of the diners were locals who were ordering pizza. I did see someone eating pizza with a French twist (Boudin sausage). We had a full meal with salad, appetizers and pasta. The pasta is made fresh at the restaurant. The Carbonara was served with a raw egg yolk on top as was the carpaccio. There was plenty of outdoor seating and our dog was able to join us. The servers were very patient with our limited French.

It is definitely worth stopping at this restaurant if you like burgers: all ingredients are fresh and tasty, from the bread to the meat. The additional local cheese went very well with it. Otherwise there was a full menu for 15e which may be even less expensive during week days. Nice atmosphere, efficient service with a smile, several regulars, which is always a good sign.

100% fresh and homemade dishes cook with local ingredient. A nice privite terrasse is always available as a nice lounge bar with traditionnal draught beer from Normandie. We do speak English and are able to translate the menu for you.
We booked to stay here to break our journey. The staff very welcoming and friendly. Food in the restaurant excellent. The rooms are a bit cramped and there is no lift, but ok for one night. The breakfast is a bit frugal and they do not replenish supplies so get there early.
