We were headed to a top rated TA restaurant in Avignon but could not find a place to park anywhere remotely near the place so we were driving around trying to find the route back to our hotel. Knowing that our options would be very limited once we left Avignon, we happened on a place that looked like "anywhere USA." A mall! a mega theatre plex! and fast food! So here we are. We spoke more French than they did English. I'm sure not many Americans pop in here but it was delicious and great fun! The service was super, the food was tasty and we had a great time with everyone sitting around us. Spouse had a cheese burger in a crêpe and I had a veal with mushrooms in a crêpe. I tried Pastis for the 1st time. It is like sambucca but you dilute it with cold water. I would definitely stop at one of these again for a quick tasty meal.

Salade Nicoise was disappointing; cold bolied carrots, stale tuna, and black egg yolks. Bull burger better, although ratoullie topping not to my preference. Itâs ok but a bit overpriced for the quality. Definitely trades on location.

Excellent lunch at this popular roadside cafe. Wear your eating pants because the portions are very generous. The Camembert salad was an excellent choice as was the cheese burger with layers of different cheeses. Washed down with a glass of rose- perfect lunch. Service was prompt and polite.

Well....where to start.....? Bar Tabac des Alpilles is simply a little gem in Saint Remy. Patrick runs the place with French flair and welcomes every guest as a friend. A linguist himself, he will not hesitate to address you in your own language to make sure you fully enjoy the experience. Food standards and service are outstanding. Lovely fresh local seasonal produce for traditional recipes served to your table by a dedicated and really eager team of young staff. The lamb is a must have and so is the gratin....! Not to be missed. I am on my way back there already...!! Yum, yum.......:-)

Perhaps because it was an unexpected find I loved this restaurant and the food better than almost any others on our trip. We were lost, again, we had passed this place so when we turned around we just decided to stop. The weather was beautiful so we ate outside. The owner did not speak English but by hand motions and pointing we chose our meals. (A buzzing sound does not mean mosquito in France.) We had really nice house red wine and my meal was a grained bread with goat cheese, prosciutto and honey, a little apple compote on the side and a nice salad. It was heaven. This restaurant is not in St. Remy but somewhat close, more in the countryside down one f those plane tree lined roads.

Still very warm in late September so eating outdoors was a treat. My quiche was tasty and light. OH had lasagne, all home made with very fresh salad. Service friendly, generally good but apologetic when we needed to chase up our order when diners who'd arrived later were served before us.
