I took my parents for a combined Motherâs and Fatherâs Day celebration for a Sunday lunch. Two menus or a la carte and plenty of choice. The waitress was knowledgable about the dishes which is always a good sign. In the end, an excellent meal with lots of flavours, local produce and super wines. And the view speaks for itself. Superb experience!

Local food, frech, 100% home made Booking is recommanded
We got this restaurant recommended by the winery we visited earlier that day. On arrival in Saint-Macaire, we were already charmed by the village itself. At the restaurant you could choose between a three course meal with different options, or seperate plates from that same menu.We went for the foie entree and the canard as a second. I really enjoyed the food a lot!French is well known for it's culinary level, and this humble restaurant only confirmed this!

The food is unforgettably delicious: imaginative, creative and delicately put together, yet unpretentious and rooted in quality local ingredients. As a previous reviewer said, the environment and views are indeed 'breathtaking' and 'no expense has been spared' on the outdoor eating area, curved around ancient oaks. It's a rural paradise, but just 5 minutes' drive from the city of Langon. The ecological design, building materials and homage to nature are an inspiration. The service is friendly, attentive and multi-lingual. At 22 or 28 euros per menu, you'd expect it to be twice that price. What more can I say? Just go and enjoy it...

And super meal...we were on a self guided tour and several other restaurants throughout the week made us feel as if they were doing us a favor by hosting us. Not Le Medieval. They were lovely and the meal memorable

We were lucky we arrived just before lunch service started. We both had the "menu" lunch meal for â¬15, this included1. Appetizer buffet (antipasto)2. Steak with salad and fries3. Dessert or cheese4. 1/4L of wine5. CoffeeThat's a bargain anywhere but especially in France! (Just the steak would have been â¬10).The chef and server were very friendly and seemed to genuinely care if we were enjoying our meal. We didn't understand the cuts of meat available (menu only in French) and the chef came out and showed us the uncooked steaks! Since this place is listed as a "brasserie" in the tourist magazine we were expecting a menu of burgers and club sandwiches and we were pleasantly surprised!
