Opened in 2007, our Restaurant "L'insolite" gives a major place to fresh products prepared by resourceful and highly trained Chefs. Gael Ruscart and Philippe Clauss will offer you a menu changing with the season, including the best products from the sea a
Such a great surprise to find such great food in this quiet unassuming hotel. The chefs are award winning and the blend of flavours were so delicately and perfectly balanced - something I have never found ever before. The wines recommended also perfectly complimented the food. Restaurant inside is tasteful and roomy while the terrace was lovely on warm weather. Great relaxed atmosphere.

Affronted that we had not made a reservation despite it being Wednesday in mid October and there being no other diners, the miserable waitress somehow managed to find a table in this huge soulless restaurant. The worst fish soup in France, very thin, unseasoned and with an unhealthy stale fish aroma was not a good start. My clams were at least edible but a mere 9 specimens in salty brown liquid seemed rather economic given that we had watched the locals gathering them at low tide by the bucket load. The sea bream fillet was cooked correctly but served with an utterly flavour-free mush of glass noodles and beansprouts which tasted of a tainted frying pan. My fillet de boeuf was far from seignant (rare) being charred and by French standards 'bien cuit'. It was served with a mystery tasteless veg accompaniment that may have been turnip. The desserts were dreadful dry factory produced things the colour of chocolate but no flavour apart from sweet. By far the worst dining experience anywhere in recent memory - avoid at all costs. Actually 138 customers awarded us of good comments for 9 bad opinion, what makes 94 % of satisfied customers for 6 % of disappointed. As opposed to what you think, we are not offended when you did not book, that belonged to our trade to put the question to your arrival because other customers booked and that enables us to manage the arrival of these customers.Concerning the fish soup, on our premises it is made with a Breton recipe authentic, white fresh fishes and conger what gives him its taste, contrary to industrial soups which more the share of time are made with fishbone and of the agents of chemical flavour. Concerning the vegetables which you did not know to identify they are fresh Jerusalem artichokes, if you had taken the time to read our map instead of being in criticism as of your arrival, they are announced and you could have appreciated what you eat⦠I note that you allotted a very good opinion to one of my fellow-members who as of the first photoposter an industrial charcuterie plate and which adds up 35% disgruntled customers. I thus allow myself you inform that you are far from being large culinary critic and that you should question your palate instead of severely judging a restaurant, small council do not go in restaurants which offers fresh produce and home made, you choose with a tourist factory and choose rib steak.

Picture this: we know several excellent restaurants in this part of Brittany, but wanted to go to somewhere different for this, our 40th wedding anniversary lunch. We chose Le Clos de Vallombreuse because of its inclusion in the booklet "Restaurateurs de la Pointe Bretonne," usually a reliable guide. Well, the letdown was all the greater. Confusion on our cocktail; she poured our wine first and forgot we'd ordered a cocktail. We finally said "skip it." The "lobster medallion" was thimble-sized. Our St. Pierre fish ("john dory") was perhaps defrosted, despite the restaurant's location across from Douarnenez port. Etc. The wine - from the Loire valley - was good, and was one of the few on the list for less than 50 euros. Huge cheese selection, so-so dessert, coffee. At 48 euros (not including drinks), this was way over-priced. A big disappointment on our special day. Must make it up to my wife - somewhere else!

Came here last week and were slightly disappointed this time.Although the team did adapt extremely well to my wifes vegetarianism and the fact that she couldn't have anything non-pasteurised the food that I had was pretty bland. The steak to be fair was plentiful but extremely fatty (to be expected for an Entrecôte) but it really did put me off. The chocolate desert was lovely and my other half was a bit saddened that the tarte au pomme was not slightly warmed before service. We will be back in the future but not straight away.Hello Sir,I am really disappointed to learn by reading your comment that this time we have not managed to meet all your expectations ... We select Charolais beef from Brittany because its known for its high quality, unfortunately it's true that steak can be slightly fat and it is for this reason that we serve a generous portion. I'm really sorry I did not manage to meet all your expectations this time, especially because we had a high quality duck supreme. For apple pie, again I'm sorry, this is a choice of the team to serve a dessert a little lighter and refreshing.I hope the next time we will do better.See you soon
