Nous avons passé une très agréable soirée estivale en terrasse sous les arbres, cadre convivial et au calme. Personnel sympathique. Nous avons pris une planche mixte fromages et charcuteries à 12€ puis un cheesecake en dessert, ce fut très bon.

It's a cave a vins specializing in moderately priced, regional, organic French wines that serves a marvellous one plate lunch. You can get expert advice on which of many, many wines under 10 euros, or some more pricey French and Italian wines, to take home with you, or you can stay for lunch, and enjoy the casual, friendly service and excellent food in the clean, bright converted workshop. Our plate was a centre of green salad with a tasty poppy seed vinaigrette, surrounded by a range of delicious treats -- top quality charcuterie, a goat cheese/confiture bruschetta, house made humus, a savoury sautéed mushroom, a hearty leek/carrot rapee, and two regional aged cheeses. The real surprise was engaging wine pairing suggested by server/proprietor Jean-Jacques Maleysson -- a Dard et Ribo Crozes-Hermitage -- at an extremely reasonable price. So, if you like food and are curious about regional French wines sourced from small organic producers, stray an hour out of Lyon to St Etienne's lively centre ville, and enjoy a lunch at Le Verre Galant. Both your purse and your palate will thank you. And you're sure to buy a bottle or two of a wine you'd never have found anywhere else.
