I am fortunate to live in Puy L'Eveque where there are many excellent restaurants. To survive here, a new restaurant must offer something unique and the quality must be high. I am sure 'ecco' will survive!I visited once under the old management (then named Stromboli) and the food was good and the restaurant pleasant. The new restaurant has been improved, air conditioning installed, radiant heaters installed outside (will be nice in December) and the general ambience taken up by several notches. The main delight though is the food. On this occasion I had a pizza. I have quite high expectations but was really pleasantly surprised by the very high quality of the pizza I received. The base and crust are not merely a benign carrier for the cheese and vegetables but a delight of their own. The edges of the crust gently caramelised but light and tasty. The toppings fresh and expertly cooked. The best pizza I've ever had (in three Continents)...On this occasion I chose pannacotta for my desert which was delicious but next time might try the home-made ice cream. While enjoying my pizza, I noticed some very good looking pasta dishes floating by and landing on appreciative tables.I popped in to find out how they do it. The chef showed me his wood burning pizza oven and a large bag of imported flour from Napoli. This and stretching the pizza by hand, rather than in a machine which causes the gluten fibres to compact and make a dense pizza. He also explained that all the pasta is made fresh on the premises.Very unusually for this part of the world, you can also buy this delicious food to take away. Perfect if you want sit round the tv for the world cup or tennis or perhaps have a pool party without having to light the stove.I believe that 'ecco' is ably filling an important niche in Puy L'Eveque and with the high quality of its food will prosper.I believe that when another really good restaurant joins an already strong field, it creates new demand and in a way strengthens the whole market.I look forward to making more visits and will certainly have an ecco-supplied pool party soon.Almost forgot to say, excellent and friendly bilingual service.

My wife and I enjoyed our lunch here recently with dining al fresco available. We both chose their âadult formulaâ of a slightly smaller pizza with a side salad for (I think) about â¬8.50 Pizza was thin and slightly crispy with tasty toppings and the dressed salad was fresh. House wine was good. Basic stuff but recommended nevertheless.
This was our 1st experience here and we ordered takeaways on this occasion..they offer home delivery on orders over 50 euros which has to be a good thing and a huge selling point for the business as nobody else does this in the area...we decided to collect ours this time round !Enormous choice of pizzas so something for all tastes no doubt and some very good special offers, especially on Mondays so worth checking that out !A few euros more than others nearby but they are large ( 33cms ) so good value if you find some left over for lunch the next day !!I was a bit disappointed with the base used but they did seem to vary amongst our group order so probably need to give it another try. This is a competitive market as there are 2 other well established places in the village but let's hope they grasp their opportunities and do well...
