We ate at Restaurant Frederic Doucet late on a Friday evening after a very slow, tiring drive from Geneva...after 2 delayed flights from Corfu. We were staying at the hotel. So after we checked in we were in need of some good food. The restaurant staff were very welcoming and understanding and we ended up sitting down well after 9pm. Nothing was a problem and we ended up ordering a la carte, the Charolais Beef Fillet and the Charolais Lamb Fillet. Of course this was preceded by 4 or 5 lovely amuse bouche. Both the beef and lamb were very good and sauces served with both dishes a highlight as well. The service as I mentioned was first rate. The wine list is extensive in both red and white Burgundies, with Macon wines also having a good representation as you might expect given where the town of Charolles is located. Restaurant Frederic Doucet is well worth the minor detour off the A6.

Welcomed when we pitched up early and offered the house aperitif. Cremant with grotto - excellent on a warm night. We had three courses from the "Bourgignon" menu. Wife & daughter chose Gazpacho and I had the vegetable mille feuille. Steaks were cooked exactly as ordered. The cheeses were superb as were the desserts. My wife had a chocolate fondant and I had their version of an apricot crumble which was quite delicious. The crumble was made with mixed size lumps of crumble and the texture contrasts were lovely - and the apricot sorbet that came with it was good too. Service was very good - on a hot night we asked for suggestions and got a chilled red Pinot noir. Great advice. Lovely atmosphere - lots of local families, sitting outside and enjoying the evening. What à Nice day!

We were there to have a stopover lunch. Quite a huge selection of different type of cuts. Kitchen is of modern style: customers can see clearly how the chefs are preparing through the huge glass windows. Portion is just right, not too excessive. Price is a bit high.
