Things to do in Saint-Marcel

Having (rather unwisely, as we discovered) chosen to stay at the hotel next door, we wanted a quick, and not too pricey, dinner. We weren't sure about Pizzarelli, but were pleasantly surprised by the warm welcome from the staff, and the excellent quality of the food. And the portions are large enough for the biggest appetite (see photo!)

We were looking for dinner options in a small town on a Sunday night, and came across this place. Unassuming exterior, but we found a nice patio at the back. Good pasta and salads. The service was excellent.

Our family stopped here during a visit to Monet's gardens and enjoyed a delightful meal. The pizza quatre fromages was the favourite with generous amounts of contrasting cheese for a very interesting pizza. The crust was Naples-style, thin, with no hint of a crust, and cooked to perfection. Service was especially friendly and the outdoor seating area was nicely shaded from the sun.

Finally after days of searching for decent food in Normandy- we found it here. Thankfully we had directions from trip advisor because you would never just find it. Really friendly staff, lovely ambience and good menu choices for vegetarians and gluten free needs. Excellent chocolate mousse and definitely worth a try...Dear Cliv and Louise,Thank you very much for your lovely review. We are very happy to read your comment. ).

A modern building and although set in a complex including an Intermarche, feels surprisingly welcoming when you are inside. Enjoyed the menu de jour, prices reasonable and staff excellent.

Read reviews about this restaurant and was not disappointed. The place looked empty but that is because everyone was seated in the terrace at the back of the restaurant. We had a lovely basic meal (pizza and salad) where everything was fresh. The salad was their basic salad and was superb. The pizza we chose had chicken, potatoes and peppers. We switched out the peppers for mushrooms without a problem. We commented to each other how the toppings actually looked like the food they were supposed to be! The chicken was roasted and placed in torn strips for example and not your usual diced chicken. The pitchet of cider went very well with the meal of course. We would return to this restaurant

Pamukkale was recommended to us by the owner of our accommodation. It was easy to find, right near the riverfront, and the menu posted outside was very comprehensive. My husband and I arrived about 6:30 pm, very hungry after a long day of sight-seeing in Giverny. The waitress told us that it would open at 7, so we went for a long walk along the beautiful river and wandered around town for a while. It turns out that on Monday nights, most of the other restaurants in town are closed!Anyway, we returned and selected a Turkish dish to try, and it was fantastic - hot fresh and generous! We chose a Turkish beer to accompany the meal and really enjoyed it as well. There was only one waitress, but she was fast and friendly and happy to take the time to explain the menu items. A terrific experience at a very reasonable price!
