We went there 2 weeks ago on our way to Spain. It was a Sunday night and was the only restaurant open in the town.We found it easily, being on the edge of town.We both had steaks, which were cooked to perfection. We were given complementary home made soup, bread and water. The Creme Brûlée dessert was also homemade and absolutely exquisite. The waiter was extremely helpful and attentive, ensuring that everything was to our satisfaction. The only downside is that there were only 2 other customers in there, making the ambience a little flat.

...is having Sunday lunch at Cortie , after mass [messe] at the nearby church. Meals on other days are also good. After living here for a year and done the restaurant rounds for quality, quantity and cost I find Cortie to be the best.A pensioner must consider all three points.Reception to all, I've noticed, is always a welcoming smile. The Proprietor, Francois, speaks excellent English. Food is well presented and cooked to order. The hors-d'oeuvre is a self service affair; good selection of tasty morsels. If feeling like a piggy you can have another helping. What's the rush. Enjoy. For a particular main course the perpetrator of the '' Horrible!'' review, I've just read, moves me to comment on the Chicken a la Catalane. The sauce is thick, dark and rich with a mix of veg that can't be found in tin.To put the record straight , ref the ''Horrible'' person's poor sense of awareness [ or deliberate lies ] of what surrounds him/her.... The tiny room [reduit ] does not exist , nor does the existence of waste bins and cartons. Yes there is a room alongside the terrace, which contains a long table, etc. for staff refreshment use only, outside business hours. The ''Horrible'' idiot must have, in error, turned into the local decheterie and instead of 'Cortie' read 'Loti' [as in 'mal loti', meaning badly off which I would translate as 'on the nose']. Enough said. From a Welshman who loves his French food.

On a recent visit to our friends Peter and Steve in the foothills of the Pyrenees we were taken to one of their favourite restaurants; Taverna Le Galet. This unprepossessing little bodega is run by Jan with his daughter, Marie, as front of house and his wife Chantal as chef. It is tucked away in a back street in the town of Thuir.Chorizos Diablos (served flaming with a mustard dipping sauce), Calamari Fritas, charcoal grills of gargantuan size, Crème Catalan and incredible Patatas Bravas form their stock in trade. Peter, on asking Chantal for the Bravas recipe, was promptly informed that first he must marry her, sleep with her on the wedding night, then, and only then, would she give him the recipe after which , of course, she would have to kill him. Having met her, I believe her.She did, however, give me two key ingredients, one being Agata potatoes, the second, far less available, the root of a thistle-like plant that she called Pannicau (my phonetically based spelling) the actual name of which I havenât been able to discover even with the aid of Wikipedia. Their welcome, the ambiance the quality of the food make this a venue not to miss, even though it is not the easiest place to find.

Lovely place, has a (perhaps too-) wide menu, not surprising knowing the chef is from the Perigord & has settled in P.O. Good "gourmet menus" featuring different French cuisine styles & all very well done. Friendly, helpful front-of-house keep things ticking along nicely. Definitely worth a visit if you are in the area

Other people seem to have enjoyed a good experience in this bistrot, not so in our case where my daughter was ripped off 18 euros for a cheese salad. OK so there were 5 cheeses on a board, but none was bigger than bite-sized. Her boy friend who lives in Thuir also adversely commented on the price of the wine compared with other establishments on the same street. Nice idea spreading horseradish in a hotdog baguette and the staff were friendly enough but Verquin has some way to go before it catches up with the reputation of the Café Bleu which preceded it on this site.Hello,I am sorry to hear your disapointmentWe don't serve any cheese plate at 18â¬, but 12 ⬠with local condiments, fresh bread and a salad besideAll our affined cheeses come from "La voie lactée" in Thuir, wich is a well known specialist, cheeses are bought around 35 to 45â¬/kgWe don't sell any wine from bag in box, only bottle from the best winemakers around, price start at 3â¬/glassWe kept part of Café bleu's team in kitcheen, they were using only frozen food and ready-made industrial food, we don't at allOnce again, I am very sorry for your daughter's experience and we will be pleased to see you again to share our commitment in good products onlyBest regards

If you are in or anywhere near Thuir then you should seek out this great little restaurant.Firstly the welcome is very friendly and creates a very warm atmosphere. The menu is small and reflects the policy of freshly prepared simple dishes. This is my second visit and if anything was better than the first. On both occasions we ate outside which is a very pleasant experience.Inside is quite small and has a very intimate atmosphere. The food is tasty and the service friendly and prompt. In summary a great little restaurant

We lunched with a French friend and were all very happy with our meal and the service. We stuck to the fixed menu which offers limited choice but good value, and a moderately priced bottle of white. The quality of preparation and flavours of the dishes were excellent. The food here is a little bit out of the ordinary, and also good value. We have no hesitation in recommending this restaurant.

Restaurant De Specialités Moules Frites Notre Carte Est Renouvelée Chaque Semaine Nous Servons Ãgalement Des Plats Catalents Et Belge
We were passing through Thuir and decided to lunch on a Sunday. Little was open and this restaurant at first seemed to lack any allure. However we chose to sit outside where à la carte and a set menu was on offer (this latter is rare on weekends). We chose the set menu and for a very reasonable price received apéritif, canapés, choice of hors d'oeuvres, main course and dessert. The place is run by a Belgian and the menu reflects this; although there are many locally flavoured dishes there is a big choice of mussels & frits as well as some Belgian specialities. Everything seemed "fait maison" and dishes were fresh and elegantly prepared for a small roadside café. Good service and friendly staff.
