Ideal place for eating when visiting Le Phare des Baleines. Staff helpful and found us a table in the shade for us and our dogs. Food was good as was the wine. Would eat here again.

I visited Au Gouter Breton for lunch while spending a wonderful day cycling on the Ile de Ré. This delightful little place serves delicious galettes, and is run by friendly, kind, genuine people. There are more elaborate restaurants down near the quayside, but this café would be my choice for a tasty snack (savoury or sweet galette fillings, main course and dessert, both yummy) at a very reasonable price, in cosy, unpretentious surroundings. There are crepes too, of course, but with my wheat intolerance the galettes were a godsend. Authentic and highly recommended!

We stayed at the campsite for 3 nights and had breakfast here once and dinner twice. There is a good variety of food and everything seemed to be freshly made and very tasty. The fresh fish of the day was great and beautifully cooked. The restaurant is also very good value compared with the restaurants is the village. The service was great - helpful and attentive. Would recommend, even if you aren't staying here.

I had a delicious vegan meal here. Although the options are limited, there is a vegan starter, main and desert which were all delicious; the highlight was the dessert which was a vegan panna cotta. There are also lots of meat and fish options which my parents enjoyed. The garden is lovely, and itâs a really serene area of Ars-en-Ré

Almost missed this one as the area around Phare des Baleines is being turned into a bit of a tourist trap, none of the other restaurants appealed and we'd almost given up on lunch. It's right under the lighthouse so probably misses the first wave of hungry travellers! There's a lot of seafood on the menu but also some meat and we saw one family turn up as they were closing and be served with some lovely crepes. We chose a fruit de mer for my husband and as I'm allergic to oysters, crab for me. The cooked (but not dressed) crab was massive and wonderful value for money at â¬15, and my husband loved his fruits de mer which came with lots of dressings and even some roe type pate plus toast. We also had a small bottle of the island rose wine which was delicious. The interior of the restaurant is pleasant but the covered terrace is a gorgeous place to be on a summer's day. The loos have sliding doors and we were very amused by extensive directions on how to open and shut them - people have obviously got trapped, so beware !

Juste is a new concept offering seafood to eat on premises or to take away. The really good point is that the product is excellent, super fresh, straight from the pond (in Brittany, which is slightly suprising as there's a lot in the area). The whole thing is slick, more of a marketeer brainchild than your local seafood joint, catering for the mass market in an overcrowded area. They have already a couple of other places in paris and planning to open more. Will it become another chain and lose its way; The jury's out.

Cracking setting to watch the sun set in this charming village. Fully booked a lot of the time. Had a great meal and excellent service. A little pricey but captive audience. Would go again and even a great place to hang out for a beer......

We stopped in after seeing the menu - 3 courses for 14.80⬠which seemed reasonable for lunchThe staff were friendly and attentive and responded well to your questions and requirementsThe food came a bit fast (the kitchen is obviously well organized) but the first course prawns and mackerel pate were cold so preprepared they were superb very tastyThe main course once they got the cooking level of the bavette of beef sorted was very good plentiful portions and again tastyI had the Blanquette of Seiche (a stew if cuttlefish) and it was deliciousDesert was panna cotta with a salted caramel topping very niceWhilst we may not be back this way for a long time we know this restaurant is there and it is good valueThe only complaint was it was a bit rushed and it seems chefs in France don't understand they way steaks or burgers should be cooked as they all seem to serve them underdone to the point of being raw another minute or so on a higher heat would do the trick - cooked with a bit of pink in the centre one day perhaps!

Without making a reservation we got a nice table and where served with a smile. We got water for the dog, got all the trimmings on the table without asking (water, glasses, bread...).We had excellent mussels with fries, price was ⬠11 per person which is good.Wine and water were served in an ice bucket. We even treated ourselves to a wonderful desert.Good address, would certainly go back there again.

In the heart of Saint-Clément-des-Baleines, Les Huîtres de St-Clément is an Oyster Bar offering a selection of Ile de Ré oysters, to eat on the spot or take away.
à refaire l'an prochain.
