Four of us went to yet another lunch and our favorite steak & chips restaurant. They do many other things, including chicken and pizzas but it is the steaks for which they are rightfully famous. Steph's chips are cooked in duck fat and turned in garlic and parsley. To die for. It is not cheap here, a fillet steak and chips is 30 euros but the house wine in a carafe of 1/2 litre is only 8.50 euros. Desserts are enormous. If you are old enough to remember a Knickerbocker glory you will get the right idea!Word or warning. They will refuse to cook a steak more well done than medium.A firm favourite of ours at least once a year. It is worth a 45 minutes drive for us to get there.Toute lâéquipe de Chez Steph vous remercie pour votre agréable commentaire !à l'année prochaine alors !Amitiés gourmandes!

A lovely little creperie serving super savoury galettes and wonderful sweet crepes. Nice surroundings and Francoise is a lovely friendly lady who makes her clients very welcome. They get busy so book to avoid disappointment.

Unfortunately we could only stay for one night when visiting Rouzede for a family celebration. This picturesque site consists of a range of traditional stone buildings that have been beautifully renovated to a high standard. We were greeted by Hester who showed us to room 8 a beautiful contemporary bedroom and fabulous bathroom. There was a TV, fridge, tea and coffee making facilities and wonderful fluffy towels of all sizes as well as shower gel and shampoo. After our arrival we were only at Brise Bois for 2 hours before heading off to meet family but that was long enough to walk around the grounds, gaze at the delightful pool in the September sun and sit down with a lovely bottle of Rose.Sadly our only experience of the restaurant was breakfast which, as the title suggest was outstanding. Good coffee, a range of pastries, cold meats and cheese, not to forget the fruit, juice and yogurt too. All of this served in a lovely restaurant environment by a waiter who was very polite and charming - nothing was too much trouble. As it is out intention to travel to this part of France on a regular basis in future Brise Bois will be a regular haunt for us.We look forward to it. Thank you Hester and all the staff

Nestled in the bustling market town of Montbron, situated in the picturesque Charente department of South West France, Aromes1 offers a unique mix of loose-leaf teas, and freshly baked cakes under one warm and welcoming roof. The perfect destination for m
Every now and again we find really amazing places while on holiday - places that stick in my mind and make me smile because they are so wonderful. Aromes 1 is definitely one of these places. My husband, 12 month old daughter and I recently found ourselves out and about in the lovely little market town of Montbron and needed to find somewhere to get lunch. I had seen Aromes 1 pop up in Trip Advisor listings so we decided to give it a try.It isn't hard to find and there is quite a large free car park not far away. Outside there is seating on the terrace for when the weather is good - sadly for us it was September and it was a very rainy day!Upon entry there were a few people inside. Aromes 1 isn't a very big place but we found a table for two and enough space to park our daughter's pushchair by the counter. It's a very modern tea shop and they have a fantastic selection of different teas to choose from along the wall. The incredibly welcoming and super-friendly English owners, Sandra and her husband, made us feel welcome as soon as we walked in. We were greeted, given menus and ordered drinks. I opted for an Orangina and my husband was offered a proper pint of beer! The menu is quite small but offers a great selection of dishes for lunch or a snack. I opted for a 'Brie Melt.' This was so delicious - lots of melted brie on soft crusty bread and served with salad. Perfect. My husband ordered 'Jacket Potato with Cheese and Bacon.' He really enjoyed it.After we had finished eating, a couple of English locals came over for a chat and it was wonderful. Then we got talking with another family sat behind us. Such a friendly little place with lots of friendly people.Overall I think it's rare to find sweet little tea shops like this and Aromes 1 is a must-visit! Sandra and her husband clearly love what they do and they do it so well. The whole place is very modern, super clean and tidy. The menu offers a fantastic selection of lunches, snacks, home-made cakes, soft drinks, alcoholic drinks and of course the vast choice of teas. I've never experienced such wonderful and genuinely friendly service like this before and doubt I ever will anywhere else again.Highly recommended.Thank you so much for your comments. We just believe that you should treat people how you would like to be treated. We hope to see you again.Sandra

First visit, out of the blue, what a surprise, open plan, large spaces between tables, modern, we were there for a evening meal, menu is small but is very good, good service, they specialise in burgers, they looked very good and another thing they prepare and cook their own chips! the starters were good, my main course was curried cod with brown rice, the rice was first class, how it should be, but the curried cod lacks any curry flavour at all, still good but not as stated, deserts were also good, all in all a very pleasant evening out, will try the much next time, if you have not been yet, give it a go.

We have visited here on a number of occasions, the food has always been consistently good at realistic prices. Sometimes there is a wait for food in busy time but that's expected. The restaurant is compact but works efficiency and the garden/ courtyard is a welcome delight.Certainly well worth a visit.

In this enchanting setting along the Tardoire, we are happy to welcome you in a group event, special occasion or just during a gourmet meal to share a unique moment. Le Moulin de la Tardoire is proud to offer seasonal dishes using fresh, local ingredients
If you are looking for a quiet afternoon, away from the crowd, elevating your taste at the extreme level, make your way to Le Moulin de la Tardoire, you will not be disappointed.30km away from Angouleme in the middle of few countryside castle beside the river the location is nice and enjoyable. You can have lunch if dinner indoor or outdoor, wherever you will be the view is restful. The service is at a good level of quality, not âtoo muchâ.The food is the result of research to make your meal exceptional. It can be even if sometimes the interpretation of the dishes are not what we were expecting (e.g. Pavlova).Overall originality, detailed flavors, accuracy and pleasure are here to make you feel very good.Enjoy the moment, bon appétit!
