My husband, son, fiance and myself came upon this little restaurant for lunch in early September. The interior was pleasant and cool on a hot day; the owner's wife efficient and patient. We chose the 'menu de jour'. The main course was pork with sauted potatoes and salad. I cannot remember having tasted such delicious pork for some time, obviously reared with love and cooked with care. The humble potatoes were delicious and like the pork locally sourced. The drinks were reasonably priced. This restaurant deserves to succeed, homestyle cooking with care, the menu is small, the a la carte quite varied, the ingredients local. Very different from the nearby tourist restaurants which serve 'everything'!

We stumbled on this place on a gloriously sunny day in October whilst walking in the Pyrenees. We enjoyed the set menu with a traditional hearty soup with duck as the main course and a glass each of different local reds.Service was great, especially as they were about to close up for the season.

The reestaurant doesn't have fancy décoration but people there are very welcoming and smiling. The traditional dishes such as Garbure and Poule au Pot , on Sundays as the king Henry IV wished for. The cheese is as expected and the deserts , so tasty.Un délice!Worth a détour and after a long walk to enjoy the view.French traditional cuisine still exists.

5 of us stayed here whilst walking the GR10. The food was excellent, after a hard days walking they provided us with a meal that was both substantial, interesting and tasty. Breakfast the next morning continued the theme. The picnic was the best we had the whole two weeks we were walking and no other came near the quality of Chez Vignau. The rooms across a not very busy road were OK, pretty compact for more than one night. We were fortunate that the weather so we could sit outside the room and have our post walk panaché

This restaurant has a really lovely view of the Pyrenees. While we arrived on a gray fall day, it was still a really good aspect and made our lunch quite enjoyable. We had their gravure, which turned out to be a very large tureen with a soup containing carrots, potatoe slices, tiny beans, savoy cabbage, onions and some tomatoes. It was delicious as was our entree of trout, served with rice, ratatouille and a wonderful sauce of butter, cream and wine. One of us finished with the cheese course which had wonderful local cheese. This was a nice way to sample what I suspect was typical cuisine of the area The service was fine although they were very rushed because it was a very busy lunch crowd.

Service was friendly and fairly fast. We sat outside on the terrace which opens up to the main, circular road of in Laruns - a very nice atmosphere. I ordered a salad with toasted bread and melted goat cheese. It was very good. The fries, however, we're the big hit at our table.

We had the set menu offering a choice of 2 starters, 2 mains and several desserts for 18 euros - incredible value. Despite every table being occupied in this warm, convivial setting, service was pleasant, quick and efficient. The food: salmon tartare or the hearty local soup garbure, lamb or trout and dessert, was all delicious. With a bottle of rose wine our bill for 2 came to 45.50 euros. Highly recommended.

We are not really pancake lovers but this restaurant looked nice from outside, so we decided to give it a try. The restaurant looks very different from any other small french restaurants we visited in the villages, it is very nicely decorated with African paintings. We decided to go for the "galette", a thin pancake made of "farine de ble noir" which is actually buckwheat, a grain that is far more healthier than white flour. It looked very interesting and it was. I ordered a galette with cheese and tomato and it was very tasty. I have been reading a lot of negative reviews but we had a different experience. I haven't seen the boss, but the lady who helped us was very nice and spoke very well English, so no complaints there.

L'Escapade is very nicely furnished and the large garden most attractive. The food we had was perfectly cooked and delicious. The three course deal which we had was excellent value. The wine was very reasonably priced. The service was friendly and efficient. This French restaurant is outstanding in a town which seems to have a concentration of pizza restaurants!
