Great little restaurant/shop serving authentic produce. Excellent food with very good service. Certainly worth stopping for lunch.
This place is popular with local people, which is always a good sign. Its name derives from the large ancient plane tree outside, which can be seen in old photos of the town. It is run by three men who are very friendly and relaxed. The decor is reminiscent of a Swiss mountain restaurant, with the addition of artworks in the manner of Paul Klee. We had the formule du jour, with a delicious salad, followed by salmon steaks and creme catalane, washed down with a jug of rose wine.

We stayed in July and ate at this Michelin starred restaurant twice. Taking full advantage of the complimentary half bottle of wine left in our hotel room I arrived slightly light headed with my wife and in time for a menu and experience not to be forgotten. We picked a 6 course menu and ate pear and mackerel; monkfish and sweetbreads; veal and shredded chicken; cheese that seemed to be aged since the time of the first empire; and for dessert chocolate, cherry tomatoes and space rocks, those little crystals that crackle in your mouth. Having polished off some rose wine, I also had a glass of red wine and having now gorged on a meal fit for Marie-Antoinette, I was also regrettably well and truly oiled. To impress the cheese waiter I exclaimed with Gallic gestures and in my best possible French how good his cheese was! He shied away discretely as my wife tried to remind herself of what exactly she saw in me when she married me. The staff could not have been kinder, nor more attentive, and the food was truly imaginative and a great experience. In our next visit, I was more reserved and we tried the five course menu. Every mouthful was wonderful. All in all, we had great fun in this restaurant, it's focus is on attentive care and amazing food, good music plays in the background and it is warm, friendly without any hint of stuffiness. It comes highly recommended even for philistines who want to expand their horizons!

If you are visiting the local canyon attraction this van cafe is situated in the car park. On the way back down the dusty road, in the searing summer heat, it's a welcome refreshment stop.Sodas are expensive but that's the same everywhere in these parts.

We had dinner (5 of us) on July 21st. We live in the region but visited Ille-sur-Tet for their peach festival. (Not much of a festival actually). The location is not very appealing from the outside but the interior is nice and what really lifts the place is the warmth of the owner (I think he's the owner). This is very much an informal restauarant with a quite wide selection. They serve large plates with well cooked regional dishes. They have a quite long desert list but the deserts are OK, nothing more. The wine list was extremely short but it was quite good.We had their midsize fixed menus with some extras and a bottle of wine and it ended up at 113â¬, everyone was pleased with their dishes and the experience in general considering the price level. From what we've seen in this town I think this is one of the best places, as said they serve well cooked classical dishes. Most other places we've seen in the town are quite simple serving pizzas and such.

We only stopped by for a cold drink in the afternoon on a hot day but wish we had come by earlier for the lunch of truite amandes for 12 euros. The place had a welcoming feel about it and Madame was very friendly and helpful. Plenty of parking in the square opposite.

Visited this restaurant with my husband and 10 month old son - it was a Sunday at 3.15, so not many places were open. Entered the restaurant and immediately the owner seemed annoyed. I asked for a menu - my French isn't great, it's very basic, yet he pretended he didn't know what I was saying, I even did a hand gesture. We sat down; again, he didn't want to give us a menu. He was asking what we wanted to eat. He said that he could make us tomato and mozzarella as a starter - I didn't understand what the main meal was, something with chips. I asked to repeat, he was again annoyed by this and went to get the starter from the fridge to show us...Fortunately, I spotted someone eating a lovely salmon salad and asked what they were having. Reluctantly, he went to get us a menu...although it didn't have food that other people were eating on it, which was a bit strange. He walked off when I asked him a question about my husband's sandwich and just came back with our food 10 mins later. All in all, we were royally peed off and actually wished we had just walked out when he messed us around at the start. If you are not French: avoid, this man does not want your business!

This is an old favourite of ours especially in the summer, when it is possible to sit outside at the back of the restaurant. On this occasion we were passing Ille Sur Tet on the motorway and decided to call in for lunch. We parked for free in the large central car park off the main road that runs through the town. Every time we visit there has been space in this car park. The restaurant was busy on this Friday lunch time, but there were one or two spare tables. We both had the Plat du Jour which was Entrecôte Steak, well cooked and served with a generous portion of salad and chips. Additionally we drank a small carafe of red wine along with one Coffee Gourmand. The overall bill was less than â¬40 which we thought to be very good value. If you are not in a rush, we would suggest a leisurely stroll around this charming town.

It's not for looks or the fancy interior that you go there. Food is the destination. Crème brûlée de foie gras or carbonara made from calamari... The culinary twists of the local chef are definite worth your visit, or two))
