Warm welcome, efficiency and great food. The ris de veau or shortbread was cooked to perfection. The chef prefers to take his time but what your served is divine! Stayed at the mandarine turquoise, a stones throw away which is very handy after such a copious meal. Quantities are generous and reservation is a must.

We had bicycled all day and I was hungry - steak and fries were my dinner objective. We were staying at the hotel and had just put the bikes away. We asked about dinner and the opportunity to have a nice, rich, succulent steak. Nope, not here."But!" they said, "we have great salads, filled crepes and omelets." Oh. Not what I had in mind. But, you know, the staff were so friendly, amusing and persuasive, that we all (4 of us) decided to try their restaurant that evening. We weren't disappointed and I really didn't miss the steak. All of us ordered one of the large, composed salads - think Chef's salad, with a lot on it, be it smoked salmon or sliced duck or the like. And some of us ordered an omelet after the salad. That was followed by a rich vanilla ice cream and hot, home-made chocolate sauce. Yum!So, here you can have a light dinner or create a larger one from the menu. I left the restaurant with my biking "gas tank" properly filled.

We were looking for somewhere in the town to have lunch. Initially walked past this place as it was almost empty and did not look too inviting however having walked around other places were either shut or did not seem to do food so went back here. Between us we had plat du jour and salads and the food was very good. Reasonably priced. Service good and friendly. After we sat down in outside seating the place soon filled up and by the time we left it was buzzing. This is not gourmet but great place for a typical light French lunch.

We stopped here for afternoon tea when we visited Givet on 21st August, the lady was very friendly even though our French was not very good. We had wonderful quiche and the most delicious lemon meringue pie I've had for years. The shop is very pretty and has a wide selection of tea and cakes.

Nouvelle Brasserie .. restructurée , travaux récents remise à neuf, accueil professionnel et dynamique .. produits authentiquement frais et préparation maison .. rapport qualités /prix imbattable .. l une des plus belles brasserie de type ââ Parisienneââd
Having residence in Belgian Ardennes we like to come to Givet enjoying the weekly Friday market in the main square. Had passed this brasserie several times and went in now to enjoy a drink and a quick snack: Quiche Lorraine of the house and rosé wine was excellent and we were so surprised to meet the waiter who spoke fluently (West)Flemish language! Sitting on the Brasserie terrasse in the sunshine and very close to the ongoing market, it gave us a real good feeling of being in " Belle epoque -old style " France! For sure we will come back to taste more of the menu.

While touring Belgium, I thought it would be nice to dip into France and get some wonderful French cooking. You can usually count on the Plat du Jour to be tasty and affordable. Sadly, the rumpsteak was so thin, tough and stringy that even tiny bites took a long time to chew. I had hoped that the mushroom sauce would salvage it, but alas! canned Cream of Mushroom soup would have had more flavor. Based on my one experience, I would not recommend this place.

This was by far our best meal in almost two weeks of travelling in France,Germany and a tiny bit of Austria. Fresh ingredients, a small menu carefully prepared and immaculately served in a sheltered pavement setting overlooking the Meuse. We sensed that this is a place that really enjoys its role. Not cheap ( except by UK standards) but incredible value for money.
