The food is always presented brilliantly, lovely restaurant setting. Staff are always very nice, best staff from my whole trip to France. The food is always good quality and nice, however our soup starter could have been a bit hotter. Other than that, loved it and can't wait to go back. Best to book.

We stopped at this restaurant because of its location under the cover of the large market area in Mauvezin. Recently and tastefully done up, it offers a set 'express' menu as well as three main dishes that change regularly. Meat and fish are bought in from local or 'known' sources, vegetables are also local and seasonal. The service was very efficient yet warm, the lamb with pumpkin on the 'express menu' was literally melt in the mouth, and so was the daube. The only catch was the rice that tasted like 'boil in the bag', but I might be wrong. The chocolate fondant was light and nit too sweet. And a nice cup of noisette, too. Would recommend it to anyone in the area or passing through as the quality-price ratio is fully acceptable.

Gimont is a town in Midi Pyrenees that you can be forgiven for bypassing completely if you don't know it is there. The old road goes straight underneath a very old stone and wood marketplace and is now bypassed by a ring road, drive through if you have time. This brasserie looks nothing from the outside but the staff are particularly friendly and helpful and the food is excellent. Typically country cooking, done well and presented excellently I would recommend lunch here to anyone. My only issue were the windows which needed a good clean, in and out, otherwise excellent.

The drive up to the chateau is very impressive and the high ceilinged rooms have been beautifully decorated, loved the colour schemes. We sat down for a meal with friends and in the interests of economy, went for the 22 euro menu, which on that day was a terrine starter, a choice of pork or salmon and pudding as per the menu. There was an amuse bouche which was rather bland, a white terrine with embedded scallops, then the terrine starter, which looked beautiful, an artistic arrangement of salad with a multilayered multicoloured layers. The chef must have worked very hard, but it just didn't taste very nice and the accompanying tomato sauce was just pureed tin tomatoes. The salmon which I chose for main course was perfectly cooked but the accomapanying sauce was a bit odd, the vegetables, roasted aubergine layered with tomatoes was liberally sprinkled with dried herbs which ruined it. No excuse for dried herbs at this time of year. Mashed purple potatoes added colour..maybe the chef should be a painter instead. Friends pork and potato wedges was much nicer, wish I'd chosen that. Pudding was a slab of synthetic tasting coffee mousse cake, bought in I'm sure, a small dish of chocolate mousse, ringed with chocolate sauce and chocolate beans. would have expected something better in such grand surroundings. The wine was an excellent half bottle of red for 9 euros. A friendly helpful waitress. It was quite warm in the restaurant, but I didn't like to open a window, there are so many flies at this time of year. We moved to the salon for coffee. I like wandering around old buildings, sadly no information available on the history. When we tried to pay for our meal it took a full 10 minutes standing at reception while the manageress disappeared and then took a few phone calls while we waited. Won't go there again.

We happened upon Gimont en route, and went up to the centre ville. Tried this brasserie, and were lucky. The salad chevre chaud comes with the cheese wrapped in bacon strips. Unique and tasty. My entrecôte, grilled on an open fire, was simply perfect. A generous 250 grams, cooked a point. Home made frites, salad. We continued on, well feted.

We combine fast food, modern and regional products. You can enjoy, among other things, duck burgers but also many local products such as Pastis Gascon, Chicken Gers, Cotes de Gascogne. And the little extra, the homemade fries to duck fat.
Loved the idea of local produce being served here, but service was slow and our meals took 55 minutes to arrive without an apology or explanation, everybody else around us had already been served and finished eating. The chips were probably very good but arrived cold. Luckily we were not in a rush! The place lacked atmosphere and toilets could do with a spring clean.

Traveling towards St Mont , decided to stop for lunch. As always we look for a full car park and came across this gem.It was 12.45 ,we had 'nt booked but luckily we had a table that had just been vacated. There must have been at least 100 covers ,for a tuesday in a tiny village in the middle of nowhere we were amazed. The menu of the day was 12.50e, excellent value for 3 courses and the wine was great and cheap. Lovely decor, great staff , thanks "Adrian"who ran the place like clockwork with a smile on his face.Would I stop again "definately".
