This is not somewhere to go if you want a romantic dinner or a meal in peaceful surroundings or eating with a view. It is a shack on an industrial estate with a concreted area for eating outside and a rather dismal indoor dining area. It is somewhere to go if you want freshly cooked really good food presented in restaurant style with large proportions. Particularly good are the chicken fillets, fish and chips. A great alternative to the fast food outlets. A single course lunch for 2 with cokes was â¬16. Particularly convenient if you want a break from driving on the nearby autoroute and you can park outside the bicycle shop next door.

We visited this restaurant for lunch a total of 5 times during a 3-week stay in the Corbieres region and we can say with some confidence that it is one of the best in the region. No, it does not have any Michelin stars (yet!) unlike a nearby restaurant in Fontjoncouse, but for value and quality for money it is unrivalled. The set lunch @ â¬15.00 which includes starter, main, dessert and tea/coffee has to be one of the best bargains in France. No, there is no choice, you either take the set lunch menu or move up to one of the other menus at â¬22 or â¬28 (which are also great). We had the â¬28 menu on one occasion but it was the â¬15.00 menu on the other four visits that was the star for us. Presentation is simple but thoughtful and the ingredients are superb. I had never had spider steak before as it is a cut that is uncommon outside of France, but the steaks that we enjoyed as part of the lunch menu, served simply with potatoes crushed with olive oil, were among the best steaks I have ever eaten. The restaurant itself is a large nicely appointed room with local art on display and there is a shaded terrace for outdoor eating when the weather is fine. Bathrooms were clean and modern. It is hard to criticize the restaurant but there are a couple of things they might think about. The first is whether techno/electro music is appropriate as background music for this restaurants clientele and set and setting. Also, although we had been served by the same waitress 5 times (and she was very pleasant) she made no indication that she remembered us from previous visits (despite the fact that my wife was wearing a sling). It would have been nice to meet the chef(s) who had prepared our wonderful lunches and found out a little about their philosophy/inspiration.Hopefully some of the pictures I post will do justice to the food. This is a restaurant that is worth driving out of your way to get to - you won't regret it.

Lovely choice of meat skewers, fab pizzas, great salads, fries and veg. Perfect after a busy day sightseeing. Good house wines as you would expect in this region. All very reasonably priced. Loved the little area for children.

Heading back from a morning at the tourist trap of Carcsasonne, we deviated from the sat nav to try and find a decent non-touristy restaurant for lunch. We stopped at this place because it looked popular, with most of the outside tables occupied. It was also on the main street with easy parking in the shade of a line of plane trees. This was exactly the place we were looking for. The staff were friendly, and the food was excellent - they were proud of their Plat du Jour, and my wife confirmed it was excellent. The children were happy with chicken nuggets and frites (and they are connoisseurs of nuggets and chips). I had a baked camembert garlic bread. Simply delicious! In all, highly recommended for food, service, ease of parking. If you are looking for a proper French cafe, give this a try.

Located on the road of Cathar castles, in the pretty village of Fabrezan, near Lagrasse and Lezignan-Corbieres, the restaurant Le Clos serves local and regional specialties, grilled meat quality tapas in the space dedicated . This in a warm welcome to the
5 people working in the restaurant - 3 in the kitchen, 2 waiting - and us as the only clients and really, how hard is it to [--] up cooking a magret de canard ?? It arrived tepid to the touch on a cold plate, bloody inside - had asked for medium. Sent it back, it came marginally warmer, still on a cold plate. This was after waiting 1/2 hour after our starter plates had been cleared away...â¬12 for 5 small scallops cooked without any style or taste or extra garnish ? And served tepid also.We left our main courses uneaten, never to return.

Great selection of really tasty, excellent value pizzas, but only limited choice of other main courses. Local wine by the pichet is both excellent and cheap. Always popular with locals so advance booking essential at most times. Service can be slow at busy times as the kitchen deals with takeaways as well as restaurant covers. Very friendly staff who endeavour to be helpful, but do try to speak French; it will get you a long way!!!!

Great rustic fun. Fantastic steaks ....but the wild boar was exceptional for the three of us that wanted a change from steak on the second visit. Menu changes almost daily but is displayed on board outside so easily checked as to what available on the day. Superb local rose and red wines . Great service and value.

Weâve been visiting the area the last month and enjoyed four fabulous evenings at this beautiful restaurant. The food is exquisite and served in the âhidden/secretâ (thus the name of the restaurant) courtyard, weather permitting. You may question some of the combination of flavors but wow, do they work! Thank you so much Herminie and Phillipe (and family) for amazing food, service and memories......must have dishes La Peps (desert) and the pork cooked two ways (main). Tres tres tres bon!

O Mazette, is an atypical establishment specially conceived for the pleasure of senses. In a retro spirit, its various spaces are carefully ordered and decorated to optimize each of the proposed services such as restaurant, lounge bar and bed & breakfast.
This bar has been through multiple incarnations in the past dozen years, and this is the most successful yet. Redecorated in eclectic vintage style, with a completely new kitchen added, it's become a lovely place to spend time on summer evenings -- there's a large garden. Our third visit, and it grows on me all the time. Very professional and friendly staff, a good choice of cocktails and tapas, and an excellent list of mostly local wines. The first time we visited we ate in the restaurant and found the plates of food far too copious, so since then we have stuck to the tapas, which are very good (and in a Spanish rather than French style). Last night the place was packed, maybe 50-60 people, and we were impressed by the calm efficiency with which half a dozen staff kept everything moving while keeping their smiles and good humour.

We visited Les Calicots for dinner while staying nearby. Fabrezan is typical of many villages - it looks drab and uninviting. Externally the restaurant looks like most of the neighbouring properties, but as soon as you step inside, you know you're in for a treat!Light and spacious, yet full of character and atmosphere, the design cleverly incorporates a courtyard which feels like an extension of the interior. The menu did not disappoint, with traditional regional dishes and some modern twists. Everything was exquisitely cooked, beautifully presented, and served by a discreet but attentive and friendly waitress. It's hard to fault this place, I'm only sorry that we discovered it right at the end of our holiday.
