I had lunch with family at this restaurant: very good quality and quantity for the price : took the lunch special: pizza or large cheese salad or pasta + dessert and coffee for 13 Euros! We chose "pizza quatre fromages" and one of us had the salad with prosciuto and goat cheese: it was excellent ( Blue cheese, gorgonzola, goat cheese and mozarella). Nice Rosé wine by the" carafe", very nice too.You can eat on the terrasse which is very nice, located on a large square, either in the sun or shade. I will come back !

Staff and service were quick (3 crepes must have been done within 5 minutes....) but the savoury crepes (they were not galettes) were very basic . Maybe I should have pick something else but crepes were below average. We didn't bother with dessert which is a first. If you go there try something else beside crepes.

I have eaten at the Havana Cafe a handful of times while staying with my grandparents in France. They are situated right in the middle of Chauvigny market. In the warmer months, they set up tables and umbrellas across from the cafe. This is my favorite place to sit, as I like to admire everyday people doing everyday things! They don't set the tables across the cafe when the market is on which I think is every Saturday, it would be to busy.It is situated right next to a wonderful patisserie that is to die for. Over all they have good food for good prices. My favorite things to order is the steak, mussels, and smoked salmon salad. The waiters are very friendly and the food comes out in a timely manner.

We stopped here on the way to Caen. It didn't look anything special but had a nice feel. I had the menu of the day. It included wine and coffee and was just 12.50E. The food was hot and plenty of it. Well worth a visit for a good simple meal.

La Bigorne has a fantastic location in the oldest part of Chauvigny. The building is very old and is full of huge ancient beams. The staircase leading to the additional seating (and toilets) on the first floor is absolutely fantastic - a marvel of old style craftsmanship. The tables are made of reclaimed oak and other hardwoods - you can see the wonderful grain pattern in one of the photos.OK - so the ambience is great, but what of the service and food?We visited on a weekday and it wasn't overly busy but we were greeted in a friendly manner as soon as we arrived - service remained attentive at all times. The food is mainly galettes and pizzas, but some of the pizzas have a base of creme fraiche or mustard sauce rather than tomato which makes an interesting- and tasty - change. They are happy to combine or leave out specific ingredients so we found it agreat place for a vegetarian lunch. I can heartily recommend the one with artichokes (sorry, I can;t remember its name...).The pixxas were great - a thin base of good quality, and they tasted as if they had been cooked in a wood fired oven. The cost for 2 pizzas, 2 green salads, a beer and 2 coffees was less than â¬30.We'll certainly return.

In the heart of the medieval city of Chauvigny, the restaurant "Saint-Pierre et le loup" welcomes you in a shaded terrace 7 days a week from july to august. All of our dishes are homemade, with local products and a great choice of organic wines. Late lunc
Only a few tables at this friendly little place on the church square. They went to great trouble to squeeze us in: the owner asked whether people would mind moving around a little so everyone could sit in the shade. The food was great and served in huge portions which we shared. When we asked to split a burger between two plates, not only were they happy to do it, they actually put more chips and salad on the second plate at no extra cost. Fantastic. We love english people ! Thank you for your kind comment.

Luckily this restaurant is open for lunch on a Sunday. We opted for the â¬29.50 set menu and the food was varied and delicious. Our dishes included langoustine ravioli, medallions of skate, duck breast, cheeses and a chocolate banana dessert. All beautifully cooked and served. An old fashioned restaurant (in a good sense) with polite and efficient service.
