We were really excited to read reviews and had called to see menu previously before booking. We had our table for the whole evening which was lovely. No rush to get you out here.We felt that the food was under seasoned somewhat, and I only add seasoning to food when itâs being cooked and never after itâs on the plate. The flavours were not strong enough to notice for our palates even though I have no doubt that everything was made with care and attention and best quality ingredients and there were some lovely ideas. Beware if you ask for the fillet steak because medium rare (or a point) comes back as medium+.Sorry not one we will return to.

We visited for lunch as a family on a Friday in early September. There was 4 of us and we arrived at the restaurant at 13:30hr.There was nothing to indicate the opening hours of the restaurant and yet on arrival we were greeted by a member of staff with crossed arms who effectively âshooedâ us away. There was no apology or explanation. Unbelievably poor customer service, even if the restaurant was no longer serving lunch. The great news for us was that meant we went to Cave St Martin back up the road and closer to the bridge. They were more than happy to serve us and that lunch was very special.

We went twice as within walking distance to our accommodation - staff was very nice and food very decent. Would recommend and come back if we are back in the region.Staff pro-actively helped bringing our pram down in the garden and would make joke, and overall made us have a great evening!

Having read previous reviews would not have chosen to come here; however, arrived late in Cessenon and this seemed to be only place open. Have now been three times and very happy. Food traditional and rustic (plus excellent pizzas!). Nothing fancy but everything nicely cooked and well presented. Great selection of wines, everything very reasonably priced Service pleasant and attentive, good English spoken. All Staff trying really hard. I really can't see why this place has such poor reviews on this site.

Come and enjoy our french cook. From starter to dessert everything is home made and fresh. Enjoy your evening with us disgusting our cocktails and ice cream cup front of a concert
The first time we are here was as a couple, quick service, hot food, attentive staff. It was good although there was hardly anyone else eating at the time. A couple of months later we returned with a family group of 11. That evening there was a thunder storm and the service was dreadful, we waited 2 hours for food, but we thought it was difficult for the waiting staff getting food across the road in torrential rain so we gave them the benefit if the doubt. No wine appeared for ages and when it did they were surprised we needed glasses, no bread ever appeared, they ran out of several mains and most of the desserts supposedly on offer. Last night we went because of the concert. We booked in advance, it was very busy and there were several large groups so they must have known how busy they were going to be. Table booked for 20:30, food arrived 22:45. It was mediocre when it came, lukewarm and disappointing. Again they had run out of desserts on offer. So having given them a chance we won't return. This restaurant is usually empty, yet when they have a chance to attract a crowd they get it so wrong and lose customers. There were many disgruntled customers last night, we chose to keep our views to ourselves but were certainly aware of others who didn't.The great concert saved the night.

This is a place for locals, in a village in the Languedoc wine country. It is simple local food, well prepared and well priced, with helpful and pleasant wait staff.

Basic, no frills, but everything delivered with care and attention.Good food, good wine, warm welcoming hosts, reasonable prices, a pleasant location and open on Monday. No hesitation whatsoever in recommending this place for a low key and enjoyable meal. We had a lovely time. It's a pleasur to read you, thank you very much. See you an other time, i hope so

One of the pleasures of living in this part of the world is discovering new places to enjoy well-prepared, reasonably priced meals in pleasant surroundings with congenial hosts. Auberge de Reals typifies that pleasure. The restaurant is located near a picturesque bridge over the Orb River off the main road between Cazouls-les-Beziers and Cessenon sur Orb. The view from the terrace must be quite nice in summer but we came in late January and so had to 'settle' for the main dining room with its crackling fire, stone walls, beams, and tile floors. We joined a healthy lunch crowd, very congenial, many of whom seemed to be local regulars.Service was attentive without being intrusive, pleasant without being over familiar. Given the nearly full house, our orders arrived surprisingly briskly, not hurried but not as leisurely as some.We ordered from the daily formula. Our salads came with a chunk of buttery fresh bread topped with a slice of goat cheese broiled just right. Simple greens, small wedges of tomato and slices of mushroom, and a mustardy cream sauce. Cathey ordered the fish casserole, chunks of white-fleshed fish (cod?) in a creamy sauce with carrots and a lightly breaded crust. Tasty and a proper portion. Her side of rice was delicately flavored, not bland at all. I had the andouillette, a funky tripey sausage grilled properly and accompanied by a mound of crisp fries and another little bit of green. For dessert, Cathey had a flan-like citrus cream chock full of orange zest and I had the floating island topped with shaved, roasted almonds. With a demi of rosé (properly presented in a bucket of ice) and coffee for me at the end, out total bill came to 33 euros. We'll bring friends. Often.

Lovely restaurant in the center of Cessenon, very comfortable, pleasant atmosphere for dinning inside or outside. Excellent menu and very friendly service. A restaurant used by local people which is a positive sign. A very pleasant evening would highly recommend.
