This restaurant served some great food in a very relaxed atmosphere. Unfortunately, my wife's. boeuf was inedible. It was served rare as requested, but the steak was so tough she could not chew it, not any of it. At the same time, my tournedos was fantastic. I tried to advise the waitress in my semi-French that there was a problem with my wife's meal, and she asked if I wanted to give compliments to the chef! So clearly there were communication problems, but I believe I finally got the message across. After we had established that it was a problem not a compliment, I do not believe the comment was returned to the kitchen, and therefore nothing was done and as a consequence my wife did not enjoy her meal. Shame, as everything else was great.

Stayed in a nearby hotel for a stopover on the way back to Calais. Noticed this restaurant was very busy compared to the one next door to it so thought weâd give it a go. We werenât disappointed! It was bustling with people enjoying their evening. There was so many lovely dishes to choose from on the menu. We liked the âbeer recommendation chartâ & shared a pitcher. The food was delicious & reasonably priced. Would stay at the nearby hotel just to go to the restaurant again on our next trip to France!

When you eat at a Courtpaille restaurant you know exactly what is on offer. They are all the same, so there are no surprises. This is not fine dining, but none the worse for that. There is no pretension, the food is well prepared and presented, served by friendly and efficient staff and is good value for money. In our experience the restaurants are always spotlessly clean. There was a time when travelling in France we would not have dreamed of eating in a fast food grill, but after having been disappointed by so many meals in traditional auberges and hotels we have changed our minds.Situated in the industrial zone, this is a good place to eat if staying in one of the nearby hotels.

This hotel has an interesting history. Built in the 18th Century and known as Chateau de Camont it became a hotel in 1921, radio studio in 1936 and then was requisitioned by the Germans in WWII and turned into a City Hall.

A log fire played only a small part in making our evening at La Croix d'Or something special. With an excellent choice of menus (we chose the 30 Euro variant), we settled in for our evening treat and what a treat it turned out to be!The food was imaginative and excellent (we had nems to start followed by carre d'agneau). Mises en Boucher between courses all added to the experience. Cheese and desserts we very good too washed down with a very acceptable Moulin a Vent on offer. 100 Euros all up, not cheap but very well done. The service was very friendly and consistent throughout the meal. Very good team work!A thoroughly good time was had by us, and from the general ambience of the place, by the other table guests also.

I had read some reviews on Trip Advisor and decided to give this restaurant a try - we were so glad we did! Despite having an unadventurous teenage daughter, the lovely lady that served us, allowed us to order the roast beef that had been on the lunch menu. For starter, I ordered the mackerel and it was without doubt the best I have ever eaten! The corgette amuse bouche and the tomato and cheese madeleines were a treat too. Everything from starter to dessert was a delight to our taste buds. Thanks so much and to anyone wondering whether to try this restaurant - please go - the chef deserves a Michelin star and it was great value too!
